GenCrafts Watercolor Palette Set of 48 Colors

I got the 24 metallic watercolor set. Took a while to get here but was WORTH waiting for! Colors are soft yet have plenty of pigment. The case allows you to change the positions of the colors to your preference. It looks small but the pans don't have a false bottom, and have a really apple supply of paint. LOVE the water brushes and the case has a pallete to enable tou to mix your colors. Metallic refraction is subtle and not over the top. VERY HAPPY with this set and will get other sets to complement my "collection"! THANK YOU!

While I am no pro - I am certainly beyond the stages of being a beginner and let me tell you, I am IMPRESSED by this set! The colors are not at all chalky like in many other value sets - just the opposite. These pans are smooth and creamy. I would easily compare these to my Winsor and Newton Cotman travel set, but the GenCrafts are a mere fraction of the price. The one area I cannot speak to is lightfastness - so if that is a concern for you, then best to invest n colors from a long standing company with established lightfast ratings. I use this set for play, art journaling, crafting, and card making - so it is a perfect blend of quality and affordability. I have been able to lift these paints from the page without issue, and I also find that they perform great with other common watercolor techniques such as wet on wet and dry brush. I will note that I also bought the 48 pan set and found that while equally as great - it was too many colors for me. I really enjoy mixing colors, and working with smaller, more limited palette so this set is a great fit for me. If you love to have a ton of color options and/or color mixing isn't your love - then definitely check out the 48 pan set. Either way, you can't go wrong!

It's probably great for what it's meant to be. These would be great for kids or crafting I guess, but kinda disappointing for someone trying to break into serious watercolor painting. Keep in mind that my kid has been using this, that is why they are dirty, but you can still tell from the picture that the paint cracks in the pan after one or 2 uses, I am willing to admit it doesn't really affect the quality of the paint when it's rewet. But the quality isn't great to begin with. I bought this because I saw it on a review by Kristi Rice. It comes with a good color range, but as I said, the paint quality leaves something to be desired. I'd honestly prefer a more limited palette of colors in paint of better quality for around the same price. If you have ever tried anything better, prepare for disappointment. The actual palette is actually kinda cool. The little half pans are stuck in a rack in groups of 6 that fits into the palette, and you can also pop the individual pans out of the rack. So if you wanted to later, you could clean them and refill them with better paint eventually. The tray with mixing areas also pops out of the case and affords a way bigger mixing area in the lid of the actual case if needed, and in my opinion, the palette is worth the money more than the paint. I gave them to my 3 year old to use so I can have the palette when she is done with the paint.

The colors are very vibrant and robust; Love the container, easy to clean and rearrange for color palates; Some of the colors have a varied texture compared to others, almost chalky; Not a fan of the brushes it came with, fun try but they are quite awkward, prefer to use my Langnickel brushes. This size of the paper pad is a little awkward but the quality of the paper is good, compared to other purchases I have made. Very heavy weight, smooth & textured sides & of white in color. Paper is good for mixed media, tolerates watercolors and you can ease graphite without destroying the paper ;-).

This seems to be a lovely set of watercolor paints. I have swatched out several brands (including some professional brands) and these have a nice pigment load and do not seem to be "cheap" paints. I haven't tried a lot of techniques with them and I am a beginner, so I can't say how they will perform for various techniques. I was able to lift paint while still wet. I wish that I could find information on the exact pigments used in this palette and for the lightfastness rating for each one, but that is probably too much to expect for an inexpensive set of paint. The palette tray itself is great. I wish I could buy the palette empty to use with other paints. The half pans snap into place and you can group 6 pans together and remove them. It is a wonderful design.

Super-pigmented, beautifully organized palette. Applies and blends smoothly, bright vivid colors. Comes two water brushes and a nice blending palette on the inside lid, AND a pad of nice quality watercolor paper. Just add water and you’re set to go. Some inexpensive Amazon art supplies give you the goods but poorly packaged like some overseas factory pumped it out without consulting an artist. This set seems put together very practically like someone who actually uses watercolors was involved. Much nicer quality than the price. Looking at the art supply store I was unable to find a set that was this complete that wasn’t for kids, or for artists but way more expensive. This is the set I will use until I know my preferences well enough to spend more on pricier options. Or not!

I enjoy it to paint a watercolor painting a beautiful picture

This was a gift for our grand-daughter. She absolutely loves them. The colours are so vivid.
