It's a little heavy, but that's what you get for a glass lens of this size and thickness. Nice, clear view for most all uses. Optical diameter (or aperture) is about 96.8mm or 3-13/16ths inches (nominal 4"). Big enough for both eyes to get a look at a 1-1/2-inch-wide object with magnifier held about 4-5" above it...for stereoscopic viewing. Handle is comfortable and construction seems sturdy with hard, tough plastic frame and rubber edge all the way around (it might even survive abuse by a 2-year-old...but don't do it--glass!). Is it 10x magnification? I don't know how to measure that. I'd say it makes things appear about 2x larger. Whatever it is, it sure helps make smaller things easily visible for my 58-year-old eyes. I'm happy with it. It does its job. I can clearly read fine print. Color fringe (chromatic aberration) hardly noticeable, only at the edges of view. Definitely the clarity of a glass lens, not like plastic. There's no built-in light. It's just a magnifying glass.

This is the best magnifying glass I have ever used. It is a good size and the handle is a comfortable fit.

I was looking for one that could help me see things from far away, this did not help me like i was hoping it would. It is also pretty heavy ,so if you have neuropathy in your hands and fingers,you may want to find a lighter one. I did love the color though!
