be quiet! BK018 Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler LGA775/1150/1155/1156/1366/2011 FM1/FM2/AM2/AM3

Works well, my i7-4930 idles at 37 degrees when the house is 76F, about 52-54C under heavy load. Very quiet. Not too hard to install on my ASUS RAMPAGE IV BLACK motherboard, however it covers two RAM slots. Luckily I'm only using 4 out of the 8 slots so I'm OK but some people will find it does not fit with their setup so I took off 1 star. ....edit Well, I'm apparently a bit of an idiot. I realized that I could rotate the cooler 90 degrees and it would be out of the way of all the RAM slots. I did this and it actually runs about 3 degrees cooler now. It's still big but not blocking anything on my motherboard anymore. I'm giving it back it's 5th star. I'm now very happy with this purchase.

this thing is HUGE. And quiet. And it keep my i7 8700k cool without even spinning up past where I have it idle at 30%... I could post actual stats but I'm just not motivated. Suffice it to say I agree with the positive reviews. Install was easy and painless like the other Be Quiet products. Build quality is superb. I have no doubts it would do a TDP 250 watts but the 8700K will never get anywhere near that. Hell I could probably run it WITHOUT a fan...

Great air cooler. Very large, but looks great in a windowed case. Gets dinged a lot by others for the installation - just read the directions carefully. You put the nuts on BEFORE you mount this on the motherboard, so the people saying there wasn't clearance to tighten the nuts weren't doing it right. Don't get me wrong - other mounting systems are a bit easier, but this one isn't too bad. Fan, as with all Be Quiet brand fans, is very quiet.

Pain in the mass to mount

Initial impressions, the true review is over time and if this initial impression changes, I will try and update. This is a very solid cooler, but it is big. It is very hard to position this and have access to the memory slots of most MOBOs and to do so means turning the fan in a non-intuitive direction. The power cord is almost too short, given that you may have to turn the fan in a different direction than you assume is right. It does operate under the PWM control, so has more variability in speed than a voltage controlled fan (which is nice). So far it is indeed quite, quieter than the very quiet case fans I have. The instructions, with a few lines more of text, could be better: 1) orientation of unit, given that it may not fit in some directions; 2) use on a fan hub (some cases have these, decision has to be made on straight to MOBO or to hub); Given the new heat output on most CPUs, I think that a non-water cooled unit is the way to go these days and this is one of the premium units. I am not sure it is worth double the cost of many, but it certainly is nice! The ding of one star rational: It is REALLY big and may not fit the way you want, a screw was missing, which is minor but a pain, the cord is a tad short, the instructions are a bit weak. All this might be only half a star, but this is a premium device with a premium price.

I have this installed on my i7 4770K CPU overclocked to 4.4GHz. Stress testing with Prime95 for 8 hours never got the CPU temperature over 80C! The best part is that even when the fan on this unit is running at 100% you still can't hear it. This cooler is a bit pricy, but it is well worth it for a unit that is this efficient and quiet.

I purchased this his to replace my basic stock CPU cooler and thus far I'm very happy that I did. The Fan operation is super quiet and holding the Temp at a very low level. The installation wasn't that difficult but did require the use of both hands to hold the unit and then screw it into the back plate. If the instructions are followed properly anyone can install this.

This ia an awsome device. works great in my rig from day one and I have changed many parts but kept it.

Ho assemblato un pc gaming e questo dissipatore si sta dimostrando veramente il numero uno!! silenzioso anche alla massima rotazione, solido nelle struttura pur avendo un peso non indifferente. la qualita' costruttiva e' ottima cosi' come le rifiniture.....esteticamente fa una gran bella figura in un case finestrato. l'ho montato su una piastra msi a88x g45 con socket fm2+ e si e' dimostrato estremamente funzionale ed il fissaggio e' stato incredibilmente rapido (faccio notare che alcuni video e recensioni lo descrivevano piu' difficoltoso, ma basta seguire lo schema). la dissipazione e' veramente il top cosi' come la silenziosita'. l'unico accorgimento,per quanto riguarda la ram, meglio prendere ram low profile se avete intenzione di montare quattro banchi perche' su piastra fm2+ va rivolto verso l'alto o verso il basso e questo occupa il primo slot. io ho montato 2 banchi ram corsair vengeance pro da 4 gb 2400, che non sono low profile e sono davvero alte con il loro dissipatore, ma ci sono state per un millimetro poste sul secondo e quarto. Ho voluto mettere questo tipo di ram per la qualita' e per testare la loro compatibilita' di spazio con questo dissipatore. Questo succede con amd su fm2+, ma con intel invece la piastra del dissipatore va montata rivolgendolo verso la parte anteriore o posteriore del case quindi a mio parere dovrebbe lasciare tutto lo spazio per quattro banchi (da verificare). In conclusione e' un prodotto, a mio pare, veramente buono!!!!!! amazon siete sempre i migliori.....per tempi e assistenza!!!!!

Um schnell die etwas negative Überschrift zu entschärfen, so bezieht es rein auf mein Vorhaben, ein ultraleises System zu bauen. Wer also eine bündige Review lesen möchte, der sollte evtl. nicht diese Bewertung durchlesen, denn ich werde etwas fahren und über ein paar Details sprechen. Die dieser Review angehängten Fotos wurden in CameraRaw nachbearbeitet, entsättigt und etwas kontrastreicher gezogen. Vorab eine Auflistung an Komponenten, mit welchen ich bereits gearbeitet habe oder modifiziert habe: Kühler: -be quiet! dark rock 3 -be quiet! shadow rock (2014) -be quiet! c1 dark rock advanced cooler -corsair h115i -Intel boxed cooler (Pfui!!) -AMD Wraith Spire -Hyper 212 Evo -Thermalright Macho -Arctic Freezer Extreme (2012) -Alpenfohn CPU: -i7 2600k -i7 3770k -i7 4770 -i7 4970k -AMD FX 6100 -AMD Ryzen 7 1700 GPU: -GTX 1070 -GTX 980 -GTX 670 -GTX 660 ti -AMD Radeon RX 560 -AMD Radeon R9 380 -AMD Radeon HD 7950 Kurze Info über meine "PC-Bauer-Eigenschaften": Kein LED-RAM, kein Motherboard mit LED, kein Kühler mit LED, keine Lüfter mit LED. Mein Ziel ist, ein hübsches, aufgeräumtes Case zu haben, ohne Glitzer oder anderes Bling-bling. Kurz: Es soll leise sein, kalt und effizient und möglichst schick dabei aussehen. Was bekommt man und für wen ist dieser Kühler: Man erhält einen fetten Kühlblock mit 135mm Silent Wing 3 Fan, welcher ordentlich hochdrehen kann und dabei anständig leise bleibt. Dazu ein Schlüssel, mit welchem man bei der Installation die Muttern festzieht. Dazu eine AM4 Mounting-Bracket, welche die Installation für die neue Ryzen Plattform ermöglicht. Bei Intel konnte ich bisher den Kühler nicht austesten. Wichtig hierbei zu beachten: Der Kühler wird bei AM4 um +90° nach rechts rotiert und die warme Luft wird nach oben gepustet. Wer also perferkten Airflow haben möchte, der sollte an der Oberseite seines Gehäuses aufmachen und einen Gehäuselüfter platzieren. Ich in meinem Fall habe das nicht gemacht, könnte damit aber ein paar Grad einsparen. Wer knapp bei Kasse ist und sich ein Budget-System baut, der sollte vollkommen happy mit dem mitgelieferten boxed cooler von AMD sein. Dieser ist zwar deutlich lauter, schneidet aber verhältnismäßig um Welten besser ab, als jeder Intel boxed cooler. Installation: Sehr oft - in Videos oder auch auf Websites - kritisiert ist die fummelige Installation des Kühlers. Diese sollen bei der nächsten Generation der be quiet! Kühler ausgebessert werden. Da ich schon einige Popeleien an anderen Computern hatte, einen fürchterlichen GTX 670 Kühlkörper auseinanderschraubte, um die Wärmeleitpaste zu erneuern, war die Installation des Dark Rock 3 verhältnismäßig ordentlich, unkompliziert und stressfrei. Die beigelegte Information bezüglich der Installation war etwas wirr, aber zu guter Letzt dennoch hilfreich. Wie läuft er bei Ryzen 7 1700: Bei 40% Speed (etwa 700-800rpm) kommt die CPU auf einen Maxwert von 55° Celcius. Dabei wichtig zu bedenken: Der Prozessor wurde noch nicht übertaktet. Bei 60% und milden Overclock auf 3,8GHz und einem 13-stündigem Cinema 4D Export überschritt die CPU keine 62°. Wichtig hierbei zu betonen ist, dass mein Computer komplett leise blieb. Was ich ruhelos weiterhin erreichen wollte: Der Computer sollte unhörbar sein. Bei meinem empfindlichen Gehör, welches wie das eines Kindes funktioniert ist das nicht einfach. Meine GPU hat Spulenfiepen und eine HDD macht Lärm (daher ist diese meistens abgestellt). Mein Unglück: Also bestellte ich mir für teure 6€ extra Lüfterklemmen, um einen weiteren 20€ 140mm Silent Wing Fan am Kühlblock zu installieren. Diese Lüfterklemmen wollte ich mit vorhandenen Gehäuselüftern austesten und stellte fest, dass die Klemmen inkompatibel waren. Also gab ich auf und ließ den Versuch sein. Als ich heute erneut den Versuch wagte, konnte ich diese mikroskopischen Klemmen nicht mehr auffinden. Mein Glück: In der Kartonage des Kühlers befanden sich noch zwei extra 120mm Lüfterklemmen. Da ich noch einen Silent Wing 2 Gehäuselüfter herumliegen hatte, installierte ich diesen und konnte mein Glück kaum fassen. Beide laufen knapp unter 40% und halten den Prozessor durchgehend kühl und unter Last erreicht dieser beinahe 50°. Zusammenfassung: Gerne überarbeite ich diese Kundenbewertung später wieder, um OC-Werte und Idle-Werte mit einzubinden. Jedoch wollte ich meine Freude mit diesem Kühler umgehend teilen und ein paar Fotos mit veröffentlichen. Der Umfang des Dark Rock 3 ist grandios und lässt keine Wünsche (auf meiner Seite) übrig. Wenn be quiet! eine Überarbeitung des Mounting-Systems veröffentlicht als Dark Rock 4, so finde ich, gibt es keinen weiteren Zweifel, sich diesen Kühler anzuschaffen. Ästhetik trifft meinen Nerv - farblos, elegant... schwarz. Dass das Dark Rock 3 ein absoluter Overkill für den 1700 ist, dessen bin ich mir bewusst, jedoch wollte ich das bestmögliche und geräuscharmste aus meinem PC-System herausholen. Da PC-Bauen ein persönliches Hobby ist, investiert man auch mal in etwas teurere Komponente. Alternativen & Rat für unsichere Kunden: Der stärkste Konkurrent ist Noctua mit seinen dicken Kühlern. Jedoch hat Noctua sein eigenen Aussehen und der Look gefällt nicht unbedingt jedem. Eine kostengünstigere Alternative ist der Thermalright Macho, der Arctic Freezer (wobei ich nicht weiß, ob dieser AM4-kompatibel ist) oder das Shadow Rock (ebenfalls von be quiet!). Der all-time Budget-King ist der Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. Wer also in der Preisspanne zwischen 25-40€ sucht, dem kann ich zum 212 Evo raten oder zum Shadow Rock. Ebenso kann ich den Arctic Freezer weiterempfehlen, wobei der Lüfter - nach meiner Erfahrung - bei höheren Drehzahlen deutlich lauter ist, als alle anderen, die ich bisher getestet und genutzt habe. Wer in der Preisspanne zwischen 50-80€ sucht, dem kann ich zu Noctua & be quiet! raten. Über das Thema, welches Produkt "besser" ist, darüber streitet man. Ich kann beide Firmen sorgenlos gleichsam empfehlen. Der C1 Advanced Tower von be quiet! ist schön schmal, kostet rund 50€ und erlaubt OC während der Lüfter durchweg leise bleibt. Wer auf Budet ist und Ryzen verwendet, der sollte glücklich und zufrieden mit dem mitgelieferten Lüfter sein können. Das Wraith Spire ist wirklich gut. Auf der Intelseite... mein herzliches Beileid für die schrille Turbine in Ihrem PC... Diese Review wird in den nächsten Wochen noch überarbeitet und ggf. korrigiert. Dropped idle and load temps significantly. Very very quiet and install wasn't too painful. Be aware that mounting the heat sink requires access to the bottom of the motherboard for the backing plate. Would buy again.....bought 3 case fans from them also.

Désolé pour ce commentaire un peu long, mais peut être pourra-t-il être utile à quelques uns... Contexte : J'ai monté ce ventirad Dark Rock 3, théoriquement adapté pour des enveloppes thermiques (TDP) jusqu'à 190W, sur un i7-4790k dont le TDP est de 88W, une belle marge a priori mais à vérifier... Le boîtier est un Antec P183, ventilé par deux SilentWings 120mm en extraction. Les vitesses des ventilateurs (extraction et ventirad) sont régulées automatiquement par la carte mère Asus Z97-pro. Le ventilateur de 140mm de l'alimentation Corsair 750W participe également à l'extraction de l'air du boîtier. Sept disques durs et une carte graphique Geforce GTX750 fanless contribuent par ailleurs à réchauffer l'ensemble. Petit aparté : les choix du refroidissement par air et d'une ventilation par extraction uniquement ne sont pas conformes aux tendances actuelles (refroidissement liquide et ventilateurs en sortie ET en entrée de boîtier) mais ce sont pourtant des solutions fiables, efficaces et silencieuses si le boîtier est adapté : larges entrées d'air filtrées et pas d'entrées d'air parasites, sinon la poussière s'invite... Température mesurée : Le processeur chargé à 100%, à la fréquence nominale de 4 GHz et à une température ambiante de 26°C, la température des quatre cœurs se stabilise autour de 75°C, ce qui correspond à la limite supérieure préconisée sur le site d'Intel. Par contre, toute tentative d'overclocking se traduit inévitablement par des températures supérieures qui ne sont pas souhaitables, notamment lors de traitements sur des fichiers vidéo qui peuvent solliciter le processeur à 100% sur plusieurs heures. Push-Pull : La limite des 4 GHz ne demandant qu'à être (raisonnablement) dépassée et le grand frère Dark Rock 3 Pro n'ayant pas été retenu pour cause d'encombrement, restait la possibilité d'ajouter un second ventilateur sur le ventirad (configuration push-pull). La boîte du Dark Rock 3 contenant une paire de fixations pour un second ventilateur, de diamètre 120mm, et après une visite sur le site de Be Quiet!, j'ai greffé un SilentWings 2 de 120mm à l'arrière du ventirad. Sa vitesse est également régulée par la carte mère, indépendamment de celle du ventilateur principal. Curieusement (ou pas...) les deux ventilateurs montés sur le ventirad sont donc de diamètres différents et tournent à des vitesses différentes... Je n'ai pas constaté d'augmentation sensible du niveau sonore. Nouvelles mesures : Dans les mêmes conditions que pour les premières mesures, la température des cœurs se stabilise à 66°C, soit un gain de 9°C, ce qui n'est pas négligeable et laisse un peu de marge pour augmenter la fréquence du processeur. Conclusions : Tel que livré, ce ventirad BeQuiet Dark Rock 3 permet de refroidir correctement un i7-4790k à sa fréquence nominale. Associé à des BeQuiet SilentWings pour le boîtier, l'ensemble est silencieux quand le processeur est au repos et audible mais pas gênant quand le processeur est à 100%. En pratique, on n'entend pas de bruits mécaniques mais le souffle de l'air, plus ou moins intense. La possibilité d'augmenter sa capacité de refroidissement en configuration push-pull est un plus, à comparer avec la solution du Dark Rock 3 Pro. Je ne regrette pas d'avoir choisi ce modèle, qui répond à mes attentes.

Cumple con lo que promete es bastante silencioso y hasta ahora no he tenido problemas con la temperatura. Aunque es bastante complicado de instalar si no cuentas con experiencia además recomiendo que cheques bien los tamaños ya que lo instale en una tarjeta madre aorus z390 ultra y apenas quedo espacio y fue un poco enredoso instalar otras cosas como las ram y el cable para el CPU
