Worked for my Mtb2176hrb model Maytag fridge, I think the reason why yours isn’t working is because when they ship it, it’s left in defrost mode, what I did was turned the little Dial at the top in the middle a tiny bit to the right & it started to work.

Wasn't the Problem
It didn't fix my problem. I ended up buying a new refrigerator. I don't think we can blame that on the part. It fit and was the correct part.

When your freezer starts developing a lot of frost/ice replace it right away
We replaced our refrigerator defrosted when we noticed first was developing in the freezer. Easy to replace. My son did it all.
