Knitting Reimagined: An Innovative Approach to Structure and Shape with 25 Breathtaking Projects [Epstein, Nicky] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Knitting Reimagined: An Innovative Approach to Structure and Shape with 25 Breathtaking Projects Review: Avante-Garde Knitting Patterns Not For Blending In the Crowd - I was not expecting to like this book as much as I do. There are a lot of unique and unusual items in here to knit. I enjoy the challenge of making something unusual that is interesting, but it is not always easy to find patterns of the Avante-garde type of style that I like to make. This book has things in it which inspire me and make me want to knit. The designs are interesting, seem to work well on small or larger people (a BIG plus) and would be easy to work with store yarn, hand dyed yarn, or handspun yarn as well. I really enjoy this book and it is in the part of my collection for MUST make instead of a coffee table book or a book which I look at occasionally but never do anything with. I would say that this book would appeal to people who like to make very unusual but wearable things, but would not appeal to traditional knitters or those who prefer not to stand out in the crowd with Avant-garde style but prefer to make more classic things with different yarns. Review: Inspirational! - Disclosure - I'm an Epstein fan from way back. I'm biased. Her designs go right up to the edge, elaborately ornamented, but still within bounds. They make a statement with a practical underpinning For instance, an adorable cabled sweater has tabs dangling around the hem and the cuffs, charming, but sure to get yucky in the kitchen, so I'd leave off the cuff tabs or maybe just shorten them. All her designs come with suggestions for customizing, and that's one of the things I love about this book. Or knit them as is. The cover sweater keeps growing on me. I want it! But I'll.probably never make it, though I might steal the lattice pattern or Fair Isle pattern to incorporate in her On the Block Topper, a capelet made of four squares with optional neck treatments. Simple and so very clever. It's going to be all over the internet this fall. So get this book, follow her instructions, adapt them,, or use her patterns as an inspirational springboard for your own creations. Wouldn't one panel from her first lacy shawl make a great table runner?

Like nothing you've ever done before
If you're going to spend all that time knitting it, you ought to get compliments when you wear it. Nicky Epstein's imaginative designs will get you noticed. And her creative sweaters are always fun to knit. No more front, back and two sleeves. She'll have you knitting in circles--literally, and triangles and squares and shapes yet to be named. The title says it, and the pictures will make you drool.

Great knitting patterns
This book is in good condition and I am glad I didn't have to pay full price at Barnes & Noble. And, for anyone who is looking for really unique and designer styles to knit, this is the book for you. I will be making a few of these styles.

good book - just not for me
There are some gorgeous designs in this book but I am returning it because I am unlikely to make any of these. I wd not wear them as they're a little too edgy & I don't now anyone who would wear them.

Creative, great knitting architecture, but not for me
It's clear that a lot of thought and effort went into this book. It takes knitting shapes and techniques beyond the ordinary, yet manages to maintain tastefulness and style. It would be a source of inspiration and a good jumping-off point for someone who wanted to take an adventurous approach to garment creation. Fifteen years ago, I'd have kept this book as a resource in my huge knitting library. I realized as I went through it, though, that I am now unlikely to venture into these unusual shapes; certainly not to wear myself. They would be wonderful for a younger generation, and I applaud the author's work. I am returning the book because it's not right for ME; it will surely be wonderful for others. My star rating is because it really is an excellent book, in my opinion.

awesome
My mind was going totally wild with ideas , I see jump off points through this book. Re arranging this or that maybe not that stitch. Maybe this one instead. Inspiration galore. Someone early in my knitting what seems a million years ago. Told me think of each item as a blank chalk board shape. Now have fun filling in each blank shape. My knitting changed drastically after that. Stitch bibles became more important. Basic patterns more important. Books like this one juice for my imagination to run wildly free in. I totally love this book. The challenge is down.see it , think it through, imagine it knit it. Walla mission accomplished

Weird ugly and unwearable
I just opened this book and within five minutes I wished I had my money back. what a waste I have loved her stuff in the past but this is self indulgent design that fails to be attractive, flattering or fitting. I do not know anyone who could carry these odd garments off.

I had to buy this for the cover pattern alone, but there are also some great patterns inside. Truth be said there are some really dodgy ones too, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder! This is not a book for beginners. Yes, there are some simple patterns, but even these have a few quirks and the instructions aren't always detailed enough if you don't know how to do short rows well etc. That said, if you have a helping hand nearby and want to expand your skills, then this is a really good book for tempting you to do it. Check the look inside for pictures of more of the garments. Sone of which can be customised with her other books on blocks and circles if you wish. All in all, a good book for getting you to think outside of the normal square with two sleeves design, and take a fresh look at how clothes are constructed. A great book for any knitters shelf, and lovely quality too.

It's a bit further down the creative path than I expected. Nothing much wearable for the average person. Can't find much I actually want to make :(

What a wonderful book with such beautiful designs. All the garments are completely different from the norm but all totally wearable, even by a 70+ granny like myself. All Nicky Epstein's books are great, but she has really excelled with this one.
