This file cabinet is very stylish and smart looking. It looks and feels very rich and functions very smoothly. Nobody would know that it is wood laminate over particle board. I plan on using it very gently and feel very confident that I will get many years of reliable service out of it. I am almost 76 and I was able to assemble it on my own with no assistance. It is a bit tedious to put together however the instructions are well written and it was easy to complete though it took about 3 hours for me to do it. Please note that the unit is delivered in one box which weighs over 80 pounds. You may need some help getting it inside your residence. I rolled it end over end until I got it in the foyer. Then I unboxed it piece by piece and carried each piece to the room where the file cabinet would go. I am very impressed with the final result and I would definitely buy it again.

I actually purchased two of these. They're now assembled, in use, and I'm extremely happy with them. - I've had home office products from both Bush, and their chief competitor Sauder, over the years. I feel that Bush and their products are superior. Through several military moves, my Bush computer desk has held up beautifully -- my Sauder desk and filing cabinets, not so much. When the Sauder filing cabinets recently reached terminal deterioration, I purchased two of these Stanfords to replace them. - BUSH CUSTOMER SERVICE I: Before buying, had a very productive phone call with a Bush rep to ensure I could configure the drawers in the precise way I wanted to use my "hanging files". In addition to superb customer service skills (courtesy, friendliness, articulate, listening, patience, etc) the rep had the depth of product knowledge I sought. - SALE and DELIVERY: As usual, kudos to Amazon. Great price, and lightning fast FREE delivery through Prime. - PRODUCT on ARRIVAL: 2 units, gazillions of parts, not a single part -- not so much as a single tiny screw -- was missing. But one broken piece, which leads to... - BUSH CUSTOMER SERVICE II: Called the number provided, new part on my doorstep in 3 business days, no questions asked. - ASSEMBLY: Each unit easily done in about 90 minutes, my wife and I working together. ALL parts, including screws and hardware, labeled clearly and accurately. All pre-drilled holes and other machining of parts were flawless. Instructions were easy to follow, sequenced logically, and accurate. (There was only ONE thing that could be more clear in the instructions. Glide rails are actually two separate parts that come shipped together. You need to separate them, as one part is eventually attached to the drawer, the other to the cabinet. While the process of respectively attaching each is covered well in the instructions, the need to separate them initially (before attaching the first part) is not made clear.) NOTE: You will be hating life if you attempt to do all the screw-driving by hand. Buy or borrow a good quality variable speed, reversible drill. Magnetized drill bits (so you don't have to try to hold a tiny screw onto the bit as you attempt to align it in its hole) are a huge plus! - BUSH CUSTOMER SERVICE III: In the initial phone conversation described above, the rep ensured I knew of a separate customer service number I could call during assembly in the event there were questions, or a need of "talk throughs" to make it right. Sure enough, there was one particular thing we wanted to be sure of, called the number, waited on hold for less than 5 minutes, and got the exact tech support we needed. BOTTOMLINE: The cabinets are beautiful, the drawers open and close like butter, and the interlock function works perfectly (avoids both drawers opening simultaneously, which could cause the cabinet to tip over). If Bush made a desk in the Stanford line, I'd buy it in a heartbeat to replace my old Sauder desk. Unfortunately they only make a computer desk in this line, not a full desk. All that said, I would recommend Bush, its products, and specifically this product unequivocally.

I bought this file cabinet after looking around at furniture stores and not being happy with the quality available for less than $600. I had a 1/4 inch glass top cut to fit the top of it and it looks great in my study. The cabinet is very sturdy, it IS made of particle board, but the design is good and the finish on the outside of the cabinet looks nice. There was a spot where the particle board had deteriorated near one of the pre drilled holes on the back of one of the drawers and I had to do a repair job - I filled it with glue and stuck a piece of cardboard on the back of it, which worked just fine. My boyfriend and I don't claim to be mechanically inclined (we are both accountants), but it took us about 5 hours to put this together. It's not difficult, but there are a lot of steps. Overall, I'm very happy with the cabinet, especially for the price.

This item came well packaged and was very easy to assemble. One of the plastic file strips arrived broken and aside for a very long wait on the phone and several disconnections before reaching customer service, Bush customer service sent a replacement immediately. The rep said that they recently started having problems with their phones. The cabinet is very sturdy and holds a lot of files. The color is true to what is shown online.

The assembly was a beast, but this file cabinet is beautiful and very sturdy. I love the feature that locks the drawer to prevent the cabinet from tipping. The finish looks very high end. So far, I love it!

I bought this cabinet almost 7 years ago. I have it pretty full with all my papers. I don't use it daily, but frequently. I recently contacted Bush furniture looking for a file rail replacement since mine had snapped. They responded quickly and within days had a replacement delivered. Everything on this, with the exception of the rail they replaced, is still in good working order. This has been a great purchase for me, long lasting and eye appealing. The problem that might have soured my opinion was quickly and efficiently solved in a pleasant manner. Seven years and still fits the bill.

Absolutely love this file cabinet! I wanted on that didn't look like the classic metal box look and this fit my antique wood office look. Ok, yes it is difficult to put together, but as long as you have a second pair of hands and follow all the instructions you'll be totally fine! My boyfriend and I put it together in about two hours and honestly it was a lot of fun to do. I think the other reviews greatly exaggerate how hard it is to put together and I'm so glad I purchased it any way. It feels really sturdy because it's made of real wood and doesn't feel like it'd fall over in an earthquake. Really an amazing price for what it is and now I even have filing space to spare!

This is a very nice piece of furniture, it is exactly what I was looking for and looks great in my home office.

It was easy to put together- everything labeled well, and only one time when I needed someone to hold something.
