It's OK for CD's and MP3 players, FM radio
First off, if you are trying to do bluetooth or phone calls, you should have the common sense to purchase a more expensive car receiver. Don't expect a cheap receiver system to perform perfect wireless commands. Cheap receivers are for radio, CD's, and MP3 compatibility, not for more advanced wireless functions or phone calls. The reason I bought this is maybe a bit different than most people. My Alpine receiver was fine but being 10 years old, it didn't have the correct AUX input for an SD card or MP3 player. That is the ONLY reason I got this receiver, so if your reason is different from mine, you need to match the quality of the receiver's options for what you actually want to do with it in the car. I wanted to let everyone also know that the SD player will not accept a 64-GB card, probably only an 8-GB one at most; maybe you can get away with 16GB. I plugged in an MP3 player with two sets of data: a base 8 GB with songs on it, and the card externally placed in the MP3 with 64GB of songs. This receiver did not recognize the 64GB card either directly or bundled with the MP3 player, it only recognized and played the 8 GB songs. I'm not sure how your MP3 is configured but usually when you plug it in there are two options: charge and transfer, and charge and play. You'd think the charge and play option would be the one to select, but that didn't work with the 64 or 8 GB. Only the charge and transfer option worked, and then it started playing. You change songs and albums directly on the receiver, not on the MP3 player. In my example there are 1803 songs, and buttons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6-10, so if you are looking for a song that's for example 1775, you can't type that in. You'd have to type in 1600 and then scroll by 10's to 1770, then by 1's to 1775. That takes a bit of time, but otherwise you can find a song or an album normally within a minute or so. Overall for the price the receiver seems fine. Interestingly, compared to the Alpine, I don't get quite the width of the bass sound, but the treble actually brings out more sounds within the song, weird eh? So in other words the sound quality is slightly different but NOT WORSE than an Alpine, just a bit different. When I listen to more complex stuff like Zappa and Hendrix on this receiver I'll let you know if there are additional instruments coming through that I didn't hear before on the Alpine or computer speakers.

Good radio for the price
Purchased this as an inexpensive replacement to my daughter's car factory radio (14 yrs old). I read the reviews and not being familiar with the Boss brand decided to try it anyway. I'm not an audiophile so take that for what it is worth but I am pleasantly surprised at the quality/sound/options. It has a CD player which many at this price point do not have and for our uses we need the CD. The controls, once you run through them once or twice are intuitive enough to remember how they work. I like the preset sound profiles that adjust bass/treble/etc for a certain sound profile (i.e. rock, classical, pop, jazz, etc.). It makes it easier to enjoy using it right out of the box. I cannot testify to the longevity of this piece of electronics since I only installed it three days ago, but initial quality and performance at the price point is good.UPDATE: after 2-1/2 months it still is working as advertised (100+ degree heat). I was intially worried that the operation of this radio was too complicated to manage while driving but it is easier to operate than I thought.Very happy with it.

Great radio for the price
Installed this in my motorhome to replace an older Pioneer unit that quit working. Instead of buying a pre-made wiring harness, I cut the Pioneer plug from the factory harness and soldered the wires to the harness that came with the radio. The Boss speaker wires are all marked so making connections is straight forward. I used shrink tubing to cover the soldered connections. Note that both the yellow and red wires must be connected to 12V for the radio to work. The remote doesn't seem to work unless you hold it about 6 inches from the radio...perhaps a new battery will improve that, but, for the money it works great. I didn't use the USB or AUX features but the CD player and radio worked great.

Lots of Promise ...but not long lived
Updated this because after 40 months, this unit quit reading SD cards all together and it corrupted USB flash drives connected to it. Replaced with a different brand.Lots of promise, but a wee bit short on delivery. I have a 32GB SD card with several audio books and music albums (all mp3 files) and when the card is in this stereo, only some of the folders are seen (all within them gets played just fine); other folders are not seen nor played. The fix, according to "tech support" is to put ALL the files in one folder, with no folders under that top one. This puts all audio books and all music into one pile. How on earth do you manage a thousand or so files that belong to a few dozen albums in this fashion? This is a horrible way to hable music on an SD card.Turns out there must be a bad sector on the SD card. The folders that were not getting read by the car stereo had no files in them, despite my having copied files to them! I created new folders with slightly different names, copied the files into those folders and VIOLA! - the stereo sees all the various folders. The tech help on the phone do not know what they're talking about on this topic. The stereo does fine.

BOSS of a Radio!
The radio fits perfectly in my 1998 Toyota Corolla. Installation took me about 40 to 45 mins, but every minute was worth it. The sound is great, everything is great, including the price, literally bang for my buck. The only little negative I will say is this, the little guy (remote control) doesnt detect the radio even if you put the remote control right in front of the radio. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesnt. Anywho, a 5 star rating it is ;) I am very pleased with this radio. They dont call it "Boss" for nothing.

It's an average set I would rated it a 3 on a scale 1:5 ...5 being the highest
I thought I had selected the set with build in bluetooth feature. I guess the wireless features threw me off.The remote is sluggish in response when adjusting the volume. The volume knob has issues I can't adjust the volume steadily it bounces back n forth. You have to turn it very slow or use the remote.I think there's to many function on the volume knob.
