(Update: Here it is, 6 months later, and I'm still on the original batteries. ...Whaaat? Granted, I always run them at the lowest brightness and granted, they are dimmer than new but they still usable. I really have little to complain about with these lamps. I love them, and I love the price.) I got a $50 Mountain Hardware lamp years ago as a gift, so I was curious to see how these cheapies would hold up. They've done well. The nice thing is, they're so inexpensive that I worry less about them. They fit perfectly on the head (they are adjustable, you know), they're comfortable, the beam is adjustable up and down (which is important!) and the batteries last a reallly long time... hours and hours. I don't know how long, but I've spent a few weekends with one of them in the basement, cleaning it out, and the lamp is still going strong. They have a good strong white light, and they can go to red as well for nighttime use. My daughter gets creeped out by the red light. I think it's a great idea, and good for not messing up your eyesight in the middle of the night when you go out to the call of nature. But I can't use it as often as I'd like :-) . The only downsides are: These lights are a little difficult to figure out in terms of how the pushbutton behaves. I usually just fumble around until I get the brightness setting where I want it, or the flash, or the red light, or whatever. I don't know what does what (push quickly, hold for a long time, etc.) but at least I can shut them off and turn them on when I need to. The other more annoying nit is that, even though they're dimmable, dim is still pretty dang bright. I would like to have it go dimmer so they would make a good reading lamp. That said, for the price you can't beat 'em. $7.50 each? ...One for each kid, so they stop borrowing my flashlight! :-)

I bought these for night hikes and stargazing, and they are fantastic! They’re comfortable and incredibly bright. I also really like the different degrees of tilt I can use to aim the light exactly where I want them. I have not had the chance to use them incredibly often, only a few times for a couple hours each, but battery seems to be great, and it’s very easy to change between the light settings. I definitely recommend.

I've used several different versions of headlamps. As far as this lamp goes it is great but the strap that goes around your head is too large for me. I've used several other brands of head lamps and never had the issue of not being able to tighten it up enough so that it doesn't slide down my face. This strap has a feel to be a bit like slippery/slick so even if you do tighten it all the way it has a tendency to slowly or slightly slip so even after tightening all the way it slips and puts you back in the same situation you started with with it being a bit too loose and sliding down onto my face. Unfortunately for me this particular brand head strap does tend to be too big to wear comfortably because there's not the enough ability to tighten up the strap like I said around your head to make it snug. It probably would be fine for most men. I don't know how to judge someone's head size but I would say that I'm an average female sized head so for probably most women it might be a little bit too loose to wear comfortably. The lighting that comes from the lamp is good. The lamp is adequately bright. I walk in some areas during my usual walk that are completely dark with no street lamps and this does a fine job to light the way. The charge holds for a significant amount of time you could get 2 or 3 average walks out of this before you would need to recharge it or recharge the batteries that you install. To be clear this style a headlamp requires that you insert batteries into it. So my rating regarding how long does the lamp last and how long does it stay bright would depend on the type of batteries that you install and how well they would hold up. So the longevity of the lamp and how long it will last on a walk will be determined by the battery type you use. I use rechargeable batteries in all my headlamps. I have great results using both the Amazon Basics rechargable batteries and the EBL brand rechargeable. The EBL brand rechargeable battery has a higher milliamp it's 1000 M Au. The Amazon basics is 800 M Au. Both of these are AAA size battery I refer to. I have used both brands of batteries for a very long time and there is a little bit of difference how long the charge holds between the EBL and the Amazon Basic based on the milliamps. The higher the Milli Amp rating the longer the charge will hold and this is true of the EBL versus Amazon Basic done rechargeable type. I switched to rechargeable because the amount of batteries that I was using and throwing away using standard batteries became ridiculous. So I've saved quite a bit of money using rechargeable batteries. I've been using both brands recharging over and over again. Both brands have lasted a very long time And I have not experienced a need to buy replacement batteries yet from my original purchases of rechargeable batteries. This is true for both the Amazon brand and EBL brand I've been recharging them for several months maybe even close to 8 or 9 months particularly with the Amazon brand and they hold up just fine. I have not experienced any significant change in the longevity of the charge while in use in several different brands of headlamps. The batteries once recharged hold their charge the same as they did when they were new 2 or 3 and maybe 4 walks. For me a walk means 1 to 1 1/2 mile taking 30 to 40 minutes maybe 45 minutes walking my dog every night. I also wear my head lamp around the house at night and even sometimes during the day depending on where I'm working in my house because there's a lot of darker areas so it's a little difficult to see things sometimes and if I want to get a clear vision while working with small objects or even inside cupboards I may wear the headlamp for several hours around the house. So it's nice to have a strong charge in those batteries so that it keeps working for a long time while you're working on projects. The last thing you need is to have it wear down like 30 minutes after you put it on. I have not experienced anything like that with either brand of battery I mentioned I hope this helps

Finest headlamps I have ever owned. Small, lightweight, very bright in all stages. Would not hesitate to purchase again or recommend. Not to mention the great warranty. What a great buy for the price.

I purchased this headlamp because i am a fac on their TacLED Flashlight, and have have had great experiences with this complany. They mage good product that are very reasonably priced and stand behind them with great customer care as well. As an avid rafter and camper, i go through quite a few flashlights and headlamps every season. I need ones that are fairly durable, with changable batteries ( I sometimes go 2+ weeks in the baclcountry so USB recargable doesnt work well for me), but cant break the bank on a top tier name brand light. They get lost, I give them out, they fall into the river, equipment gets watterlogged and I loosse another one. That made the pricepoint on these light great espicially for a 2pack. As long as the batteries havent been removed the ligh turns back on in the same color (red/white) as when you turned it off. Thats nice so you dont accidentaly blind someone turning it on trying to get to the red light feature. I do wish it saved the bright ness setting when in white mode. I find medium is good all around and it is kind of annoying clicking through, especially when you accidentally double press then have to cycle back aroiund throu the super brig and very rapid strobe mode. i almost wish that was somehow turned on in a different manner, but it is something i can get used to im sure. definatly not something that makes/breaks it for me. Overall its great value fore a dang good light, backed by an awesome company, One thng to not is the large band size. I have quite a large head, usually i have trouble finding One Size itemns that will fit me, and i had to tighten the band quite a bit for it to be snug. not much room for elastic stretching. not a big deal for me, but something to be aware of for propl with average or smaller cap sizes. nothing a little duct tape hemm wont fix.

Got this on rec. from Amz customer re. brightness of the red light. A rancher graciously took time to tell me that he quite successfully uses the GearLight red function in his stable/barn to tend to his horses at night (feed, etc.), as the brighter white lights upset them. My need is for a red light bright enough to read by so as not to disturb my Beloved light-sleeping wife (who is not Equine!) and this works GREAT. I 1st put in RayoVac Fusion AAA's, and got a total of about 10 days use, tho' the red dimmed a bit after about 4 nights. Overall, I use the GearLight LED about 6-8 hours daily...good for bathroom visits, (quiet) night housework, kitchen raids (plus feeding our Feline owner, also a Nocturnal Soul like me!), and for daytime vacuuming under the bed & other hard to get places (cat hair, etc). Am presently trying Energizer Max batteries...so far, so good. I intend to keep on BUYING AMERICAN batteries (even tho' the GearLight LED is off-shored, it's too good to pass up). The red light "district" comes on 1st (push a single button once, get steady light, twice, blinking, thrice, SOS. If you wait a few seconds on the red, a 2nd push get you low, high, & blinking white light. Simple to use! Would I trust this as my "Go To" life at stake unit? No, but I'd have a couple in my back-up stash. Am still testing out battery life on my home usage patterns BTW, the 2-pack came with a 30% DISCOUNT COUPON (no expiration date!) for a re-order directly thru GearLight, which I will very likely use for another pair to place in our emergency EVAC kit (We live in Earthquake country.) if these prove to be as good after 1 month's trial use. Up til now, my most reliable headlight was the older (white light only) Energizer LED (low, high, & blink)...cheap, hardy & still going after 3 years, also has GREAT battery life (nearly always use on low, & get 10+ days use (even with cheap batteries) decent light to read by, etc. Of course, no longer available. I bought & am Very disappointed in their MUCH More Costly (but more powerful, they claim) Camo unit ($13.95 ea) w/ red light, but a spot of white bleeds thru in middle of the light field....not the greatest for reading...will probably return. Also harder to use... the white light intensity starts on high & is hard to adjust to a lower setting. BTW, their info sheet claims only 4 hours of battery function (NOT stated in product description when I was buying it). So, despite a mild need for cushioning at forehead contact (I use it for long periods of time.), & tendency of head-strap to loosen slightly over a few hours, the GearLight LED is BOTH A KEEPER AND A BARGAIN!

Durable like that they have many intensity levels and angles. My husband too to everest base camp and came extremely happy with them. I love them for walking at night.
