Droll Yankees SWH-8 Safety Wrap Hook Black Steel Pole Attachment for Hanging Bird Feeders, 8"

Purchased for a diode Christmas tree in front of home. The one inch bracket diameter needed to be enlarged to fit over the tree trunk covered with wiring. Took quite an effort with hammer and vice to enlarge the 1” bracket a bit, but I got it done. ( product has a high carbon content, is is very strong steel) It now fits over the tree trunk and wiring, and will work as planned. It’s really quite a unique in its design.

This is an add-on I like well enough to have bought a second. The first is on a shepherd's pole, on the thicker section where an arm attaches to the pole. I wasn't sure if it would work, since that section is not actually round, just two round pieces soldered together. However, it stays put in wind and bad weather and squirrel attack, holding a Brome Squirrel Buster Standard. There are birds, including cardinals, feeding, but no squirrels. I'm able to hang three feeders this way, which is great. It does come down if I'm not careful when I refill the feeder, but it's simple to put back. I just bought a very tall feeder with a 1 1/4" diameter and put on one of these for holding a seed cake feeder for woodpeckers. That is working well, especially since I can't reach other feeder arms without a stool. I have a Slinky (squirrel deterrent) hanging on the feeder, but it hasn't gotten in the way. This is one of the few Droll Yankees products that is (at under $8) reasonably priced, and I recommend it as an easy way to add on a lightweight feeder to your existing set-up.

Instead of buying a new pole to hang a bird feeder, I was able to use this device to add hanging arm to existing pole. The pole’s diameter was a little small so I used a couple of plastic tie wraps to tighten arm to pole. Worked fine.

This gives me more room to attach bird feeders. Easy to pop on and off.

Perfect addition to our 1” pole that already has four shepherd hooks. Excellent value for this sturdy, easy-to-install supplemental hook. Can't wait to hang an additional feeder that should arrive tomorrow from Amazon!

Well, we hoped this would be an easy solution for adding another bird feeder to our shepherd's hook stand. It goes on easily and does support the new feeder. However, two issues. (1) Whenever we remove the feeder for refill, this droll yankee attachment lifts up and slides down the pole to the bottom! The fix was to add a clamp just below this attachment so it does not slide. (2) The curly end (that you carefully maneuver the feeder around and into) can be a pain to add or remove the feeder from. This exacerbated the first issue (sliding down) because removing the feeder meant lifting the attachment slightly, which allowed the hook to slide to the ground. If they fixed the end of the attachment so the feeder can be easily added or removed than they'd have a winner.

I have a couple of these now to use on two different feeder poles. The poles I have aren't 1", but I put a few thick little O-rings on the end that goes on the pole, and it stays in place perfectly with no slipping. Well made little device - good quality and adaptable for less than 1" poles. A+

This is in my opinion ingenious. It’s simple and effective and very attractive. No screws or bolts- took about 3 seconds to install. Great price as well. I’m super happy with this purchase.

Even though it's a bit pricey, this does the job and is very sturdy. I would recommend it highly.

I'm surprised at how such a goofy looking piece of metal rod works so well,and is so easy to adjust and move around...yet hold tight and no slipping

I have a bird feeder with mixed bird seed on my pole and wanted another one to hold a feeder with just sunflowers, a favorite of chickadees, woodpeckers, nuthatches, blue jays, etc. I also have a baffle to keep squirrels from getting at the feeders.

Good quality and sturdy. Wish they offered a longer version. But it does the job.
