Watco Butcher Block Oil & Finish

I used this to seal a raw wood butcher block for a kitchen counter setup. I put a banana in the picture for scale, which is the only food I'd recommend putting near this wood until the finish is fully cured! Unlike standard mineral oil that washes away with dish soap after a few weeks, this actually contains resins that harden inside the wood fibers to create a long-lasting, water-resistant seal. WHY IT WORKS WELL: • The wipe-on application is completely foolproof. You just wipe it on with a lint-free cloth, let it soak, and wipe off the excess. • It leaves a beautiful, rich satin sheen that brings out the natural grain of the wood far better than basic oils. THE CATCH: • Because this is an actual finish and not just an oil, it has a strong solvent smell when applying. More importantly, while it dries to the touch in a few hours, you absolutely must wait the full 72 hours for it to completely cure before it is officially "food safe" for chopping or food prep. THE BOTTOM LINE: An excellent, highly durable finish for wood countertops and cutting boards, as long as you strictly follow the 72-hour curing rule.

Used this to refinish our butcher block and it worked great. Application was simple, the finish looked clean and rich, and it brought the wood back to life. I’ll definitely repurchase when it’s time for the next round of maintenance. Recommend if you want something that’s effective and low fuss sealer. No strong fumes (although it does have a smell), dries quickly and good coverage without scratching

Beautiful results. My old Dark Acacia wood countertops leached dark stain for several years, and began to look faded regardless of how much oil and wax we used. After stripping the old gunk off and refinishing with this product; the problem was solved! They look great, no longer residue or waxy surface feel. Allowing them to cure for the three days as recommended. But they actually dried pretty quickly. I used 3 coats and let each coat dry before the next. The countertops are about 6 years old. But love the results. Sure wish we had used this product to begin with.

The oil worked and sealed as advertised. Coverage is very good but It’s a little thinner than I expected so a little went a long way. I had to do a couple coats, probably because of the type of wood the butcher block was. Has held up very well
