This item has apparently been discontinued by the manufacturer.
Faber Castell no longer shows this lead and holder as being available on there website. If you buy the 6B you might get plenty of extra refills since they will probably not be available in the near future. I bought this to have a little darker lead than I have with the Staedtler 4B 2 mm lead from my Staedtler 2mm set. When comparing the two. The Faber Castell 6B and the Staedtler 4B seem to be the exact same as far as how dark the markings on the the drawing paper. With that being the situation. There is really no reason for me to even own this pencil. Other than that both the lead and holder are quality items.

Totally recommended!
Totally recommended! The wide of the lead and the weight of the pencil is just perfect for portrait. One of my top choice by far

Feels Like a Normal Pencil ... And That is Good
This pencil simply feels like a normal hexagonal shaped sketch pencil, and that is fantastic. I love the consistent hexagonal shape along the length of the pencil. There is a slight taper at the end where the edges of the hex shape get rounded off but the flats from the hex remain for a bit so it does not disrupt how you hold the pencil. The plastic section does fully transition to a circle at the metal nose cone but this is lower than where I hold the pencil. There are grooves in the taper area and I expected these to be for grip, and maybe they are, but I find I use them as a locating feature to feel where I am holding the pencil in my lowest grip. This pencil does not have a clip but the body shape does an excellent job keeping it from rolling around. My sample has absolutely zero rattle or any other noise. The cap is a tight fit to the body and while it is easily removed there is really no reason to remove the cap since it does not have a pointer built in and I load lead from the bottom. I really enjoy not having a clip more than I realized and wish I removed them from my Staedtler 780s earlier as I enjoy those more without clips as well; but the 780s tend to roll around while the TK 9400 stays where you put it. This is currently my favorite pencil for sketching and I will be checking out the 2mm version soon to see if I enjoy it as much as this 3.15mm 6B pencil.

Top quality clutch pencil. Relatively light, very good lead, a bit short, no sharpener.
The body it's made of hard plastic but the the mechanism is metal so the quality is great. The plastic body makes it relatively light for having a thick lead, some may like the lightness others don't, I tend to like lighter pencils and lead holders, so I like it very much. It has a very satisfactory feel in the hand. It holds the lead very firmly. The lead is Faber-Castell quality so it's among the best, and it's better than the Staedtler 6B leads I've tried. Simply put: it makes me want to draw. The only con I found it's the length, I find it a little short for my taste, but only a 1/4" or so. It doesn't have a lead sharpener and because of the diameter you might need to buy a special one.

Faber Castell is the premier maker of clutch pencil. I've used them for years and couldn't be more pleased.

LOVE THIS PENCIL !
I love this pencil. I use it to sketch in my watercolor paintings before I paint. For me, the wide soft lead works real well. I would recommend this pencil to anyone.

I've always liked Faber Castel, I've used them for years and they have never failed or disappointed me. Nice positive spring action and excellent stability. The graphite 'lead' is nice too... nice and smooth to draw with.

Pesa meno in punta rispetto alla Mars Staedler: la sensazione nell'uso è molto piacevole e naturale. Difficile tornare indietro...
