This is my second rooCASE for a Kindle Fire ... the first one went with my Kindle Fire (1st Generation). This newest version is very much the same except for the cutouts which have been moved to accommodate the 4th Generation device. I looked at all the other cases and decided to stick with the brand that I've used - and liked.While some reviews have mentioned - correctly - that this case is a bit bulkier than some, I'm sure that's the reason it provides more protection. This is a sturdy case for sure and I can tell you that my first rooCASE most certainly protected the Kindle Fire - many, many times over the years. One thing that I love about the design is that the case is not flush with the screen. It overlaps the screen on the edges. So ... what hits the ground first if you drop the Fire screen down? The rooCASE, not the screen!I use both portrait and landscape when I want the Kindle Fire hands-free ... both work just fine. The cutouts are placed correctly. One thing to bear in mind ... if you use the back camera when the rooCASE is on, just make sure to hold the case to the device or you will end up with the case shadow in the photo. I haven't had to manipulate the device in order to charge, power on/off, headphones or volume controls. The fit is perfect.The ONLY thing I don't like about this version of the rooCASE: the stupid stylis/pen holder. As you can see in the product photos, the thing sticks out. So, it can get hung up on something and the stylus just kind of flops around. I'm not even using it. Right along the side next to the stylus holder, a piece of the rooCASE itself can be used to hold the stylus. Works just fine and the stylus is out of the way.This is an attractive, sturdy, functional case ... the first one was super. After several years, and lots of use, it is still in great shape and looks like new. I hope this one is the same and I suspect it will be because the materials and workmanship have not changed. I got the purple - nice, rich color.

Incredibly fast shipping! Quality is very nice, considering it isn't leather. It's a really sturdy, 2-piece case, beautifully sewn, and fits my Kindle Fire HD 7 (4th Gen) like a glove, without being tight. Everything is accessible with the cover closed. The outside cover (front and back is all one piece) comes off and can be turned sideways, to stand the Kindle vertically. It has a wide Velcro piece on the inside-back of the cover to stick to the back of the Kindle case, which is entirely covered in soft, Velcro-compatible fabric.A stylus comes with the case, and has a pen on one end...stylus on the other. Nice. :) Fits the stylus loop perfectly.I purchased mine in Red, and it is true red; it shades neither to orange, nor to burgundy. The color is plenty bright without knocking your eyes out. Hope this helps, if you're having a hard time deciding which case to purchase. The price and quality can't be beat.This is my 3rd or 4th Kindle with as many covers. The only cover somewhat better than this was my first one...and it was leather. It's always being flung somewhere, yet it's still holding up just fine. It's still functional, just looks rather tired and weather-beaten. LOL I have not treated it well, at all.

Wanted to use my rooCASE for a few weeks before I left my review. After two weeks it has become more useful and reliable than my previous case. My other case had the elastic straps in the corners that held the kindle in place. But over time, they stretch for use and general activity. I love the feel of this case. It is sturdy, not "slippery" as some others, attractive, and holds my Kindle 7 perfectly. The bonus stylus/pen was a nice surprise. I do wish it had a swivel that allowed the user to just be able to turn the Kindle from portrait to landscape, but the Velcro to date is quite stable and seems to do the job much better than my previous case that had the swivel function but would tip over while in portrait position unless it was practically laying on it back. All cut outs match perfectly for the camera, speakers, headphones, volume and power buttons. Have not had any WiFi connection problems related to this case. I chose the brown color as it reminded me of older leather bound books I have in my collection. Gives it a classic look and feel. So far, I am quite happy with this purchase. And I looked at many different styles including the "origami" style. The 4 star rating is only based on the lack of swivel function and nothing else. If I could give it a 4.5 rating, I would. But I still love it!

Once I FINALLY got it, I love it! The shipping took 3 weeks, but that's for the seller's review. As far as this case goes, I am so tickled with it! Given the low price I was a little skeptical when I ordered it, thinking it would be some cheapo plastic-like material and the color would be weird, but those worries were all for nothing!The case is beautiful and has a nice leather-type feel to it. The color is a gorgeous purple, not as bright-neon as the photo looks, which I'm glad for :). All the access points line up perfectly, and the velcro holds great. Also, the back of the case where the velcro sticks has not picked at all, and I've put it through the ringer these past 10 days (with a little help from my kitten)! Time will really tell, but I don't foresee any problems. It holds great on its side when I'm watching Netflix at night, and it holds great in the vertical position when I'm reading recipes as I cook. Well worth the wait!Update-9/7/15: Another great quality of this case, it cleans up really easily! I've been teaching myself to make bread lately...what a mess! And, of course, I have to look at each recipe on my Kindle 10,000 times as I'm making it lol. This case has had butter, flour, wet dough, and some other things (that I'm now sure don't belong in bread) all over it, inside and out and it just wipes right off. The felt-like interior doesn't seem to absorb any of the goo I've thrown at it...I'm pleasantly surprised!

After reading all the reviews I had a lot of concerns, especially when it came to the fit of the case over the camera. I certainly did not want to be taking photos and have piece of the case shown in my picture!This is not the case people... The case fits very well! There are two parts to the case. One fits over the kindle like a full case, and then the other part is detachable and operates like a book. This part is flipped back to give clean camera shots. Those of you who complained about the case blocking the camera clearly did not know how to work the case. Its not rocket science.The detachable case allows for the kindle to be viewed horizontally or vertically. Its sturdy and protects my kindle very nicely. It stays closed with magnets, but the magnets are not seen. The microfiber material on the inside prevents scratches as well. Everything lines up very well.I bought the navy blue and it matches nicely with the navy blue kindle.I miss the slimming feel of the kindle now, but at least it is very well protected.I'm very happy with this purchase.

I received this case today, right on time. After I figured out the velcro openings I used it right away. I can't believe how much more convenient having this case is! I play games on my KF HD 7 and I read, often going back and forth between the two. It's very easy to change from portrait to landscape and is pretty secure. If I could make one suggestion, that would be to make the grooves that the bottom edge of the Kindle sits in a bit more pronounced, but regardless, it still works perfectly for me. I ordered the navy blue which is a true dark blue and not the purple you see here online, although there is a purple. The stylus works very well and for the price, you just can't beat it. It also puts the Kindle Fire into sleep mode when you close the cover. I'm very pleased.

I have the same case for my iPad. I just bought this one for my fire. I love it because of the detachable cover/stand. You can very comfortably grip it without the stand and use the stand only when you need it. I don't know about the polka dot models but the black pebble faux leather is quite nice. I actually forgot my old iPad case like this wasn't actual leather. It's,well made and attractive but it is thicker than most cases when put all together, so if a thin light cover is something you value, this might not be the case for you. But since I absolutely hate holding a tablet with the back flap flopping around, is is the ideal one for me. Addendum. After a while Velcro doesn't stick and weight becoming cumbersome. Not as good as initial rating.

Practical and Inexpensive. I have tested the various positions of the case and Fire HD7 and am quite pleased with the result for both reading, listening and watching video. For the price I did not find anything approaching the value here. When I looked at the negative reviews for this product, I soon realized they were for different models than this one and that customer service went waaaayyy beyond the average in solving problems-most of which were silly gripes caused by the users themselves. SO- this is plastic, not leather, the inside is soft but not suede, the cut-outs are perfectly placed for both cameras, volume controls, recharging and on/off switch. The pen/stylus works well and can be attached or detached while the Fire is on the stand. I take this with me everywhere in purses, totes and backpacks. The cover stays closed and the pen stays attached. I am very pleased.

A case created in a wrong way- your Kindle Fire into it is placed up side down.

the case arrived on the day promised . there were no instructions with it ,but it was easy to work out. it fits my new kindle perfectly and works well in both positions when reading or going on line
