Primos - Bloodhunter HD | Water Resistant Aluminum Body and Shadow-Free Beam

Got my first chance to try this light on Oct. 23, 2018. I got a good hit on a doe with a Spitfire broadhead and was eager to try this thing out. I hunt a lot in the evening, and after reading the positive reviews, I decided if it helped me to recover just one deer, it was worth the $50 bucks I gave for it. I will say that it does exactly what it claims. All colors that are in the “red/orange” area of the color spectrum somehow absorb the light this thing emits. Consequently, it does make these specific colors stand out more than with an ordinary light. I used it side by side with a standard LED light that evening and I must say I was impressed with its performance. It has two brightness settings, and I actually found the lower setting to be the better of the two. The light is a bit heavy, but IMO well worth carrying on those evening hunts. Now with this said, I did notice that the blood stood out better on certain backgrounds than it did on others. Also, I probably wouldn’t let this light fully replace your standard light for general use. I also cannot speak to its durability and battery conservation, as I’ve only used it the one time for like 30 minutes. I will say from now on it will be a utilized tool in my arsenal for evening deer hunts.

I used this on a doe I got with a bow earlier this year. I had arrowed her right at dark and with the last few minutes of light set off on the trail to find her. The best way to describe it is that the red is more visible (increased contrast?)than with normal sunlight/flashlights, the blood seems to jump out more readily and was easier to track. It was also lightly raining and I had no problems finding partially washed away blood drops. While the track job I had was easy and more of a test, I can see this being a big help on those tough/long track jobs that hunters invariable have. Can't wait to use it again. Edit: 12/29/18 - Had a much tougher track job on a doe tonight and this made it much easier. Even on snow/wet grass I was a able to follow a bloodtrail that was at times heavy and alternately very sparse. I have absolutely no reservations recommending this light...it makes blood trailing much easier. Do yourself a favor and buy this, you won't regret it.

I bought for my husband for Christmas, as he is an avid hunter and he LOVED it. He had never heard of them before, (how I don’t know because he has alllll the things), but I can tell you he will never go deer hunting without it.

This is the better Blood Tracking Light I've bought (I've purchased a few). I wish the light was a bit brighter & blood showed up better but overall it's a good purchase.

I have bought several of these for our hunting party, got use out of them last year and the guys really liked them. It absolutely makes the red pop. That being said, anything red on the ground will stand out, including leaves. I wouldn't spend 100 bucks on one, but every now and then there's a sale and you can get one from 45-60 bucks on amazon.

First and foremost - IT WORKS! Make sure your white light flashlight or headlamp isn't on or aimed in the same place, it will wash out the light filtering of this flashlight. In the dark this light makes blood glow neon red/pink! Now if you want you can read my review: Bought this flashlight with some skepticism but I am very impressed. I used first after arrowing a deer in an open field, not to find the deer, but to follow the blood trail backward to find my arrow. Used a second time on a deer thar was arrowed and ran through the trees/forest. in daylight was able to follow the trail easy enough but it ended at the edge of the trees and the trial was lost. once the sunset I followed the trail again and found some small specks of blood that had been missed in daylight, the deer doubled back its own trail and then split off with almost no indication, the light saved me having to grid the forest or walk the neighbors property for no reason. The light has metal construction, is quite robust and has the weight of a quality item.

After several times struggling to follow a blood trail in the dark, decided to spend the money on a good blood tracking light. The flashlight was delivered late yesterday, and I hadn't even unboxed it yet, when my husband shot a hog in the dark and couldn't find blood. Totally forgetting the light, I went to help with our regular flashlights. At the site, I found one little pinprick of blood. I followed that for about 10ft before it dead ended. We tried for an hour to find where it continued, to no avail. That's when my husband recalled that the flashlight was delivered. We came back to the house, put the batteries in, and off we went. We arrived back at the spot and followed the same previous trail of pinpricks to where I'd lost the trail before. Lo and behold, this light picked up the next pinprick of blood that I'd looked for an hour for with the previous light. As I moved in that direction, the light was picking up these tiny pricks of blood among the red/brown leaves and pinestraw that I simply couldn't see with a regular light. Eventually, the pricks turned into better blood and we were able to track the hog... but we never would have found the trail that deep in the scrub brush without the ability to follow small bits of blood that this light gave us. It really makes the wet blood drops stand out among a sea of similar colors. While you still have to put in the work tracking, this light makes it so much easier to follow blood that is sparse and tiny. Well worth the cost. As to the blinking on/off that others refer to. Yes, I encountered that after 2 hours. It's letting you know the batteries are running low. Carry a back up set of batteries. The flashing is super disorienting for sure.

Little bit heavier than a normal flashlight works wonderfully on blood. Blood shows up very clearly. Easy to use but it does get hot to the touch.

This light is incredible. When tracking without snow, in low light through trees, it make the blood stand out. I waited until it went on sale on Amazon & now we have 2. An absolute must have for your hunting bag!!

This is great because my dad is colour blind and cannot see blood on a green leaf. Generally he is okay because I'm the one that usually shoots the deer as it is (glad he can't see this review). It helps illuminated the blood and has a bright beam unlike most other models which are useless in general.

Primos Blood Tracker Light is built very sturdy & came with an excellent case. Top quality lithium CR123 batteries came with it. I like the ability to switch between high & low modes as CR123 Lithium batteries are not cheap and based on info supplied, they may only last 2 hrs on high, but 8 hrs on low. After spending 6.5 hrs after dark searching for a wounded animal, guaranteed this light will make that process so much easier.
