From the bestselling author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The BFG comes the story of a young girl with an incredible power! To the Gregg family, hunting is just plain fun. To the girl who lives next door, it's just plain horrible. She tries to be polite. She tries to talk them out of it, but the Greggs only laugh at her. Then one day the Greggs go too far, and the little girl turns her Magic Finger on them. When she's very, very angry, the little girl's Magic Finger takes over. She really canโt control it, and now it's turned the Greggs into birds! Before they know it, the Greggs are living in a nest, and that's just the beginning of their problemsโฆ. Review: A little inconvenient. - Page 57 torn/ cut in top right corner Lovely book but a pity it was not in perfect condition to offer it as a present for my granddaughter. Review: My Favorite Book as a Child - I loved this book as a kid and I love it as an adult, especially as an animals rights advocate. It challenges you to put yourself in someone elseโs shoes, and consider the thoughts and feelings of others, even animals.

Good intro to Roald Dahl
I read Roald Dahl books to my elementary school special education students. It's a great way to get language and storytelling in a way that is appealing to kids, especially kids who can't access books like this on their own. I have a youngish group this year, so I started with Roald Dahl's shorter books. This is a good introduction to how Roald Dahl stories work. We read it after The Enormous Crocodile and The Twits. I'd recommend those other two over this one. When I'm reading Roald Dahl books, there are occasionally parts that I have to censor or change a bit. (Usually for "comedic" racism.) For this book, I was a little concerned about the strong anti-hunting message, but I think it depends on how you teach it. We talked about how the character of Sophie hates hunting, rather than why the Gregg family is bad for hunting. One character's perspective doesn't have to be a moral truth. The constant guns did make me a little uncomfortable, since talking about guns in schools is a big no-no, but the kids didn't focus on that part at all. We'll read Matilda later on in the year, and this clearly an early version of that story. Matilda should be easier to understand having read this book first.

Interesting and lovely story
By Mihaan and Mira (age 10 and age 8) Very strong book - it gave a very good message - that it's not right to shoot animals and birds. Though it was too short - I was a bit disappointed with that. But it was very interesting and I wanted to know what happens next. I like all Roald Dahl stories.

Good book, But WAY too short.
I loved this books humour. Like all roald dahl books. But it was WAY too short. I would like more stories about the main protagonistโs โmagic fingerโ and what lessons it has taught people.

She read the entire book in two days and then read it to younger siblings who also enjoyed the book
Bought this for my eight year old daughter. She read the entire book in two days and then read it to younger siblings who also enjoyed the book. Perfect book for young readers, it had her laughing out loud and kept her attention well. I downloaded the digital version to a kindle device and never have problems downloading.

what would you expect from Roald Dahl, my son loved it!
short, sweet and funny book, great morals and very good story. great value worth adding to anyone's collection. Read the book to my son (6) but he was able to read along and follow with me and didn't find many hard words. I loved the wording Dahl is known and for his imaginative phrases and other words he makes up as well as his original stories.

Dahl fan must-read
Hadn't read this one as a kid so finally got around to it with my daughter who loved it. Our family wanted to keep Roald Dahl books in the same series, design-wise, so I took this copy. It's a short book so I'm a little confused by the price tag. Anyway, its still a ton of fun and must-read for all Dahl fans.
