Zinus Sleep Master Memory Foam 10 Inch Mattress, Queen

This review is for the 10" Queen version of the ZInus Ultimate Comfort mattress. I chose this particular model for several reasons. First, it is manufactured by Zinus. Now, Zinus does not have the name recognition of Tempur-Pedic, nor the same high-end reputation, or prices. Various Amazon sellers sell at on of assorted Zinus mattresses under a bunch of names, and they mostly get very good reviews. This model, a 10" Queen featuring 3 inches of memorey foam over "2 inches Pressure Relieving Comfort Foam," on top of 5 inches of higher-density base foam, appears to be identical to other brands that receive 4+ star ratings over numerous sales here. Add to this the fact that this particular listing was both shipped by and sold by Amazon, and I felt I couldn't go wrong. And, of course, my innerspring mattress was 15 years old and needed to replaced. I received the mattress only today, and have only slept on it for a few hours, and will update this after a few weeks and maybe later. Prime 2-day shipping didn't fail me, and the 65 lb box was dropped right next to my house by FedEx. I handled the box fine myself but it was a little bigger than expected and without any handles, and a lot of people will definitely need help to move it up any stairs, if not move it all. Neatly packed, nothing extra, no cushioning needed. Some reviews of memory foam mattresses led me to believe they can take 24-48 hours to fully expand from their compressed shipping state. Others caution you to have the mattress at least near where you will ultimately sleep on it before you unwrap it. The second bit of advice is definitely worth mentioning; mine expanded and unfolded rapidly, reaching near-full dimensions in seconds. After wrestling it of the floor (I should have opened the plastic with it on the platform), I measured its height at 9 inches. Two hours later I found it a full 10 inches high. It is also a full 60 x 80, unlike many mattresses on Amazon that are undersized at 58 x 78 inches. That is a big deal to me - I want all of the 80 inch length a proper queen mattress provides, and filling out standard sheets without them being loose or baggy is a must. I have not had a full night's sleep as of this review, but I did take a quick nap, which turned into a very long nap. It is comfortable. This mattress cradles me enough, yet is still firm enough to be supportive. Time will tell, but my initial impressions of this mattress are that it will be great to sleep on, and that it is a real bargain. Update after 3.5 years: I love this mattress! I had concerns about the durability of a $230 mattress, but it is still perfectly comfortable and is holding up well. It is certainly on the firmer side, which was what I had hoped for, though it is soft enough to cushion my 190+ pound self very well. I've noticed none of the problems some reviewers mention: it doesn't "sleep hot," there was no off-gassing or strong smell, and the cover is just fine. I have no regrets about buying this mattress. When considering how much money I saved on it, it's easy to think maybe I should go ahead and replace it since it's been more than worth the price and is a few years old now. But it still shows little wear and looks like it should be fine for several more years. Note that sheets made for taller mattresses are commonly available these days, and sheets designed for a 14" mattress will fit loosely, but that's not this mattress's fault - it's solid (enough).

i went to someone else's house to take care of her dog, on a day that i was exhausted (i think i had slept 3 hours before.) passed out on her bed (spoiler alert: turns out she had this mattress) and didn't even toss and turn. i later asked her what mattress it was, expecting her to say a topper or a $2k mattress, but was delighted to find out it was the 10" sleep master- under $200 for a full size 10" (i already have a full size high rise frame which has a "built in box spring". ) it came, i opened it, it smelled strongly of chemicals so i left it the room with the fans blowing. now, for years ive had a CRAP ikea mattress which is hard as a rock. other reviewers keep saying this is too firm, and in the beginning, because i a used to sleeping on a rock, i thought, this is too soft! not as comfortable as i remembered. also, for some reason this matress is slightly bigger than my frame and doesn't fit neatly inside, as my ikea matress did (i had put the ikea mattress on a different non ikea frame i bought, and it fit. this didn't fit perfectly), but oh well, not too bad. anyway, then i slept on the hard mattress which i hadnt thrown away yet and i'm like "nope - this sleep master is MUCH more comfy." what i ended up doing, bc i am a bit of a freak, was putting the ikea mattress directly on top of my frame, and then putting THIS 10" mattress on top of the ikea mattress for extra height. it feels great. i am a certified constant tosser and turner - but since i've gotten this bed, no more tossing and turning. it's a bit of a miracle. i have been waking up every day with actual ENERGY. i haven't even had coffee yet and i'm like zooooom! i find it to be way more comfortable without a pillow, i don't need it, this bed comforms to your shape. my boyfriend likes to use a pillow, i guess every body is different. oddly, we are spooning less, i think bc we are both so comfortable and sink into our positions. ha! that's life baby. i am sleeping better and waking up earlier with more energy. stacking this on top of my old mattress gives me so much height that i can glide off the bed in an interesting way, bc i am tall. so i also recommend doing that to see if you like it (hey, then you can always pul one mattress out for guests), and trying to sleep on it without a pillow to see if you prefer that or not. the smell goes away after a day or two. enjoy. im told this price is NUTS for the quality. ive never been on a tempurpedic, but this is really cool - and so cool that it came in not a humungous box. very cool that i didn't need a moving van and it wasn't bulky to move around. i'm really a fan. who knew an awesome mattress could come in the box, in the mail!!! life is good sometimes.

I was very worried about ordering a bed off of the internet (I did lots of research and read lots of reviews off amazon about different beds). I recently moved away for college in September (currently it is December). I ordered the bed to arrive before I moved. I received the bed (had some shipping errors--dont need to mention due to the issue being solved by amazon) opened it up, let it sit out for 24 hrs and then slept on it. First things first. I had read many reviews talking about the smell of the mattress. People stated it smelled like chemicals. I will admit at first it did, but I expected that. The smell wasn't that bad like some people have said and yes it does go away. If you let your bed air out like the directions tell you to it will go away. After a couple of days the smell was gone. So the smell is not an issue. This mattress states it is medium in firmness. I would say that is correct. I was used to a soft bed before I moved so that was a change. I am only 115 pounds so I don't really put much of a dent in the bed. I decided to take another persons advice and walk around on my bed and kinda jump on it. That helped, because I thought it was to firm at first. I love the bed now. I sleep so well and haven't had back pain from sleeping on it. I would highly recommend this bed to other people. My friend who is 240 has slept on the bed and loves the bed also. I don't have anything negative to say. I want to make this clear that this bed is a medium bed, not hard or soft--this is why I like it. Its has just enough give for comfort, but not too much so that you feel like you are sinking.

The Sleep Master Ultima Comfort Mattress is a hybrid foam mattress than combines various layers of foam to provide support and comfort. We recently upgraded the kids rooms from full to queen beds and in our exhaustive search for mattresses Costco seemed a logical choice, but since the mattresses were twice as expensive, we decided to take a chance on Amazon and we could not have been happier. We needed a mattress to work with an adjustable bed with a massage function and it was time critical. We estimated that the 8" would contort a little better with the adjustable bed, but Zinus was (and still is!) out of the 8" mattress, so we decided on the 10". After installing the mattress, we found that we were right - though the 10" is very comfortable and works well just fine with the adjustable bed, it resists the folding and the massage function is more vibration that massaging. The Ultima mattress came in a rectangular 18" x 18" x 42" box weighing about 65 lbs. This is very convenient to move it the final room especially if it is up stairs. Use a scissor with care to open the tightly wrapped mattress. The mattress opens up and instantly gets to about 75% of its size within a few minutes. It takes about 2 days to get to full thickness - which is less noticeable in the 10" or 12" mattress than the 6" or 8" mattress The Ultima mattress is all foam and does not have a wire-frame edge support. The multiple foam layers design is a very good solution for comfort and support.The bottom is 5" high density support foam and the top is 3" memory foam with 2" comfort foam sandwiched between the two layers. All these layers are wrapped in a cool, comfortable jacquard cover. The Ultima mattress is very comfortable to sleep on. It is cool and provides good support to anyone about 200 lbs. Since this mattress does not have a a rigid wire-frame edge support, the foam starts to give at the edges beyond that weight limit. I have tried and disliked 100% memory foam mattresses because I was unable to move/turn and it made me feel stuck and very uneasy. But this Ultima mattresses 3" memory foam allows me to move free with all the memory foam benefits. Recommended. Pros: * Excellent price point * Supports combined weight up to 450 * No foundation required * Multiple layers of different foams are designed to provide support and comfort * Medium Firm mattress provide good back support * Memory foam layer does not make you immovable in the bed * Lack of a rigid wire frame makes this great for adjustable beds * Package is easy to move between rooms and carrying up stairs * Low foam odor disappears within a few hours Cons: * Returning after un-compressing is difficult if not impossible.

Update April 2024 - Still using it and no complaints. I spin it around from time to time. I added a 3" foam topper this winter for added squishy since the matter is a little firm. I'm about 170 lbs. No problems. My guy is a body builder with 3x shoulders and he's even comfortable on it!! The only issue is that he sinks down further, which means the sheet slips off and the elastic catched under the foam topper. Not a big deal at all. I paid $190 total. Money very well spent!! Update January 9, 2022 - Still in love with my mattress. The price has gone up significantly (I paid $177 for queen 10 inch), but I'd still purchase this over a traditional $1500+ set. I've kept a waterproof cover on it, so the foam has never been exposed to sweat, oils, or dead skin cells. It's held up INCREDIBLY well. I turned it around last year because it was developing a trough where I lay. It's fine now. I see myself getting a few more years out of it. I love that it doesn't transfer motion, so I still don't feel my dog moving around at night. Best purchase I've made on Amazon! Update - November 27, 2018 - I'm still blown away by this mattress. I weigh about 160 lbs, and after nearly 2 yrs there isn't a noticeable dip where I sleep. So incredibly comfortable. It's firm, but gives, which makes no sense until you lay on one. I'll definitely purchase another one in a few years when this one needs replaced. Can't beat the quality or price. I've waited a week so that I could give a better review after having slept on it a little while. Best money I've spent in a long time. I bought the 10" so that my sheets would still fit. It inflated about 90% the first 2 hours and finished up during the night. My favorite thing about the mattress is that it doesn't transfer motion. I sleep alone with a 35 lb dog. Normally I feel her jumping on and off the bed during the night, as well as changing positions, scratching, etc. I don't feel any of that movement now, which has resulted in being able to stay in a deep sleep longer. I wake up sometimes totally confused about where I am or what day it is because I've slept so well. This is coming from someone who is a horrible sleeper. It's been years since I had a good nights sleep. Until I bought this mattress!! I've been ridiculously focused and productive this week, and I realized yesterday that it has happened since I made the purchase. Related? Not sure, but it seems like it. A chronic lack of sleep has effects on a person, so it stands to reason that finally sleeping fairly well has allowed my body to operate normally again. The mattress seems well made. The cover is zippered. I'll buy a waterproof cover for it since that prolongs the life. Not that I pee in the bed lol, but it catches all of the dead skin cells and dirt. Walmart has one with a soft quilted top for about $25. Buy something like this to protect your investment! I hope it lasts many years, but even if I just get 2 yrs out of it, it'll be worth it.

I am not cool enough for that. *** I ordered this mattress for my son, who specifically wanted a "mattress I sink into" to replace his aging Sealy "twin mattress that you give to your 8 year old because it was on the bottom trundle of someone's daybed for a decade and was slept on maybe twice but it's from a time when mattresses were FIRM like John Wayne's resolve!" I did a ton of research. This product has nearly identical branding to three other mattresses on Amazon - identical documentation, identical "composition diagrams", everything. But it's $50 more. Why the price discrepancy? Because apparently Zinus is a real company that actually honors warranties. At least that's what I hear. As everyone else indicates, this shows up in a duffel bag. The instructions are flat out wrong - it shows up folded in half and upside-down before being rolled up. You have to unroll it, unfold it, THEN flip it over, THEN cut the bag off. The only good news is that since I only bought the "full" it wasn't all that heavy. Then again, I'm a big guy. If you are a teenager or slender woman I would imagine this is not something you'd want to move all by yourself. Once it's unfolded and inflated (which took about 24 hours to reach full firmness and regain its shape) it is a mattress sized (and shaped) chunk of memory foam so moving it around is unwieldy, but no more so than an actual mattress. It is EXACTLY full-sized. And it is PERFECTLY rectangular. Just like the picture. It fits snugly (but not so snugly that we couldn't get a mattress pad and sheets on it) into the full-sized platform bed from IKEA that my son sleeps on. When first inflated (for the first 24 hours) sitting up on the edge of the bed resulted in instantly crushing the entire mattress. The first time I climbed onto it, my knee touched bottom. That all changed within the next 24 hours. It is now firm, and even with my son sitting on me my hips don't bottom out. I'm sure I'm touching the support foam, but that's it. Sitting up in bed now results in a good amount of mattress supporting my butt. And I'm not light. The included cover is decent - and zippered for removal so washing will be easy. Now, the good part. It's memory foam. In a 10" mattress. I took the zipper off and it indeed looks as intended - several inches of memory foam (hard to say if there's really a "comfort foam layer" or if it's just more of the same memory foam, as it's the same color) and several more of support foam. It's REALLY comfy. As in "lie down and you don't have to toss and turn or adjust yourself or even really use a pillow because OMG it's comfy" comfy. It retains its shape, it doesn't seem overly hot (it is supposed to be a cooler type of foam, after all) and it seems to be exactly as promised. I will update this if that ever changes. And I might just have to buy one for my own bed, I'll be doing a sleep test this weekend!

I have been looking for a new mattress for months. After getting burned on a crap mattress this last go around, I was very hesitant to buy another.. especially online! My sister has this mattress in her spare bedroom, so I was able to test it out one night before buying. I researched the trendy companies selling Bed In A Box like Lull, Purple, Casper, Tulo, Tuft & Needle, Sealy, Helix and Leesa. Honestly, I wasn't impressed. My last mattress came from a big box store and was about $230 on sale. It was a spring mattress with a pillow top and "would last a long time." That was 5 years ago. A normal mattress should last around 10 years. So I felt the need to drop a lot of money on a mattress and its name brand in order to love it! I was wrong. After researching all of those companies and seeing soooo many mixed reviews. The hassle of sending it back etc.. and paying over $700! I was turned off by it. So I read reviews on this Zinus mattress all night and decided to pull the trigger. When I ordered it, I signed up for the amazon prime credit card. I received the instant $70 gift card for signing up and the mattress had a coupon on it.. I ended up buying it for about $115!! Mind blown.. I will say, unlike the companies above.. this mattress is not folded in half when rolled up, so it was almost as tall as me. Handling it by myself was a little hard, but totally possible. I think they state it is 40lbs, but it seemed heaver to me. The box said team lift, not that anyone pays attention to that, haha. It rises VERY quickly, so be sure to have the bed frame or area ready to receive the mattress. Within the hour it was measuring at 10 inches. I waited 24 hours (one night) to sleep on it. Some people mentioned in their reviews an odor.. it didn't last long at all, to me it smelled like the plastic wrapping it was in.. I did not notice it on the mattress the following night (first night sleep). I have had this mattress for two weeks and notice a huge difference. I wake up feeling well rested, I don't wake up so much in the night to change positions and we don't roll into the middle anymore!! It is a "firm" mattress but you sink into it a little. Just enough where its comfy but not enough where it feels like quick sand. If you want to "activate" it, aka soften it faster, apparently walking on it before bed will help. I haven't had to do this. I told everyone at work about this mattress.. I highly recommend it!! I hardly writer reviews, but felt like this one deserved it! Hope this helps!

I AM SOO DISAPPOINTED. I make reviews after all my products and I have yet to make a bad review until this mattress. I bought this because after I read all the reviews I was sold. I am not picky when it comes to mattresses, which explains why im on amazon in the first place. I have just spent the past 4 months on my futon, and I have never had issues sleeping on the floor or in someone else's bed. I've always been that person who can sleep anywhere.. until this mattress. After waiting 48 hours I finally got the chance to sleep on this mattress. The initial test was good, it was very very comfortable, but right away I noticed there was wayyy to much give and no resistance at all. Right when you lay down you fall to the ground just like an air mattress, thats how much give there is. After sleeping on it for one night, and I know... I only gave it one try, but my back is KILLING ME. Mind you im 130 pound 20 year old so I should not be waking up with horrible back pain, but wow... I feel like I just aged 20 years. I am up at 7 am unable to fall back to sleep, and uninterested in trying to again on this mattress. Now im stuck with a mattress that I can not shove back into its original box and ship it back. After sleeping on the futon for so long I was so excited, so this is a real bummer. I will attempt to return it and get a firmer one, but until then I will give it a couple more tries even if I move back to the futon. I will make another review because I feel like after sleeping on it for only one night this review isn't reliable, so I will be making another one with more mattress experience to review, but with how shocked I was with the poor performance I had to leave an initial review. *EDIT* I have had it for two years now and I still wake up with the same back pain I had the first night. I slept on a different bed for a week during vacation, then I came back to this... after one night of being back I woke up to a sharp pain in my back. I’ve only had this for 2 years and I’m already shopping for a new mattress! DO NOT BUY IF YOU’RE ANYTHING BUT A BACK SLEEPER. You will be sleeping like a parabola if you sleep on your stomach.
