Modal Soul was originally released in 2005, so we are now coming up on the 20th anniversary of this album. Nearly every track is a stand-out hit on this, with the exception of Flowers in my opinion. The beat is great, but all it says over and over again is “flowers”. I believe this stands on equal footing with Metaphorical Music and First Collection, so you cannot go wrong with any release from Nujabes and associated acts. I will say that if you want to introduce Nujabes to someone, I would not start with this album because I think it was made for those whom are already fans of him. If one wants to start the Nujabes journey, start with Metaphorical Music or First Collection since I think those are more accessible. They are more closely related to traditional hip-hop. If you like, keep moving forward and get here. You will not regret it.

I collect a good amount of vinyl, and the quality of Modul Soul is genuinely the highest quality packaging I've ever had. If you enjoy this album and want the vinyl but are worried it might not be a good print, just know this will be everything you'd want from a nujabes vinyl!

been listening to this album off and on for 13 years now, never disappointed. If you haven't listened to this album yet and are looking at this page, do yourself a favor and head to youtube, spotify, or what have you and just listen. i bought this record and im hearing subtle sounds I've never heard before. crisper piano notes, clearer highs, it has a warm feeling for me. on a side note, the price jumped up 4 dollars since i bought it 2 days ago. so don't dwell on the decision too long!
