Made in Vermont We live and work in Vermont. Our backyard is the perfect testing ground to make the finest Premium All Weather Performance Socks. We ski, snowboard, hike, bike and run in the most unforgiving climate in the lower 48. It is under these conditions that we design, test and manufacture our socks.

Love the "Witch Socks"
I love these socks! I bought them on sale and because of the price I've only treated myself to two pairs of these in two years; but will keep an eye out for deals. I can tell you that they last a long time and are super comfortable. I wear a size 6 shoe and find it difficult to find socks that fit well, without extra fabric bunching up or hanging off my heel, but the size small fits perfectly. I have a lot of small Smartwool socks in my drawer and I find that these socks are a step above since they're 100% wool (while most of my Smartwools are a blend) and the knit is so tight you wouldn't know they're wool except for the fact that they keep my toes warm in the winter. And I'm not talking sweaty, but comfortable. I wear these socks when I wear shoes that are too small to pair with thick socks. The added bonus is that they're made in the US--in VT (if they were union made they'd be perfect). The colors remain vibrant and if the top peeks out of my boots they add extra color to my ensemble. The package says there's a lifetime warranty, but I don't know how that works. The socks I bought for my parents and I last winter are all holding up very well. The care instructions recommended are to turn the socks inside out to wash in warm water and tumble dry. I don't follow the instructions and wash all my wool socks the same: in cold water (I don't turn them inside out) and I air dry. This was the care recommended to me when I bought wool socks years ago and seems to prolong the life. These socks are a great investment!

Happy with Socks
I purรงhased two pairs of the Darn Tough Women's Merino Wool Micro Crew Stripes Cushion Socks in the Lime Stripe in 2018.I hiked in them regularly these last two years; mostly on the Appalachian Trail with miles varying between less than ten miles a hike to hikes over ten miles. Those socks were size medium. I wear 9.0, 9.5, and 10 in hiking shoes. My Merrell All Out Blaze 2 are size 9.The medium Darn Tough socks have done well. They are still in very good shape. We hike predominantly spring to fall, with winter hikes, also; though less frequent in consecutive days.Spring to fall could be twice monthly; on average, five consecutive days each trip: sometimes more, sometimes less. The socks have been hiked in quite a bit. I really like them. I think the cushioning is just right for the hiking I have hiked in them. They were my first Darn Tough Socks and the only Darn Tough socks I have hiked in, so, I cannot compare them to other Darn Tough socks. The medium size has done fine. I do, at times, feel like a little bit more length in the sock would be a tad bit better. While hiking, it isn't as noticeable; at times, when my shoe is off, I feel like stretching the sock at my toe. These new Darn Tough socks that I bought from Outdoor Equipped are size large. I thought I would try size large, and, since they were cheaper than size medium I thought it would be a good time to take the chance on size large.I am happy with the size large. They do not feel much larger than the medium, which for me being right at the end/beginning of the two sizes is a good thing.I believe I could wear either size comfortably. I have not hiked in the new socks, but, I anticipate them to wear well. The micro crew height of the sock works well for me.With the cold, snow, and ice we have had, I need to invest in some Darn Tough OTC socks.I picked up a pair of Smartwool Knee Socks on Black Friday that I wear while inside, and I wear when going out casually. I picked up a two pack of Dr. Scholl's knee socks for casual wear also; but, I really want to get a pair of Darn Tough OTC Mountaineering socks, and/or Darn Tough OTC medium cushioned socks for cold weather. For hiking, the Darn Tough socks are a sock I feel confident in their comfort and durability. They feel well, wear well, and, look...well...well. They look really good. The colors are like aroma therapy for the feet!I am pleased with the socks I got today and I look forward to hiking in them.

Best socks ever!
I've purchased at least one of all the top brands of wool socks here on Amazon. Darn Tough is my favorite. Not all Darn Tough are cushioned, and these have the most cushioning aside from the ski socks. But the ones right here have good cushioning. The heel and toe are padded. I'm a shoe size 7.5. I ordered medium. But I think small would be better. These socks are durable, warm, fitted, wash well without stretching in the heel and toe, and perfectly cushioned. They are not too thick. I only wish there were more patterns in this hiking style, or the ankle style, with extra cushioning like these. Some of the Darn Tough patterns for the lightweight socks with less or no cushioning are really beautiful. I do find that I need to fold over this sock to make it comfortable, and then the pattern doesn't show nicely. But maybe others would be happy to keep it unfolded.

Love them. Long lasting, very narrow fit :)
LOVE them!Only challenge is that the thin socks are sewn with the toe box also very narrow, so I can't easily spread my toes as far as they need to spread to balance.Still the best narrow fit, thin, long lasting, merino socks I've found yet. I love them.

Sock is itchy and size is important
The seller was great. No complaints there. But the socks are itchy and a bit too big. And they need to fit properly so the heel is in the correct spot. I wear shoe size 9 or 10 womenโs. I ordered large sock.
