Good Way To Mix It Up
I completed 1 round of P90X and by the end it was getting a little bit repetitive so I decided to pick up P90X+ so I could mix it up a little bit. The package includes a 90 day workout program which is based on using these 5 workouts with a few of the originals thrown in that I used for 30 days before it also got a little bit too repetitive for me. There's also a P90X/P90X+ hybrid schedule on the Team Beachbody website that you can use which incorporates more of the original disks. All of the workouts are very fast paced, so they all kind of feel like a cardio workout. Steve Edwards (the Beachbody guy that designs most of these workouts) said that it was built with the goal of "ripping you up" not gaining mass, so if that's what you're looking for this might be a good way to go. That said, they are a bit short (~40 min each) so you may want to add some other calorie burning activities to your day (running, walking, extra pushups or pullups, or maybe a disk or two of 10 Minute Trainer) if you really want to get shredded. And, of course, diet is also a huge factor as well. My results were good but not that spectacular from a weight/fat standpoint: I'm a 25 year old guy and I went from ~144 lbs and 11.1% body fat to ~142 lbs and 10.8% body fat in the 30 days I used the P90X+ program. The thing that was REALLY awesome about these workouts is that there are a lot of opportunities to work on your pullups. I went from being able to do 2 100% unassisted pullups to being able to do 4 in 30 days, which is not too shabby. I'm now doing a program that is very similar to the original schedule but I still use the abs/core disk from p90X+ regularly and I also throw in the interval and kenpo disks occasionally as well. It's difficult for me to fit the other two in just because of my goals, but they are also good workouts.

Speedier, different focus
I did the original P90X and gained a lot of upper body strength. The one issue with the original P90X is that, after weeks and weeks of doing the videos, you start to realize how much Tony talks and how much time you're wasting -- standing there with your weights -- waiting for him to start the exercise. What I love about the + videos is that he cuts most of that out. It's straight to the exercise and he barrels through. It's a little disorienting in the beginning, as you don't know how to do the exercises at first, but it's so nice knowing that I can be finished with the workout in 30 minutes, instead of 60 for most of the regular P90X DVDS. The other thing that's changed is the focus isn't on reps, but choosing a weight so you can do the exercise for a certain amount of time. So, instead of 8 - 10, you're aiming to do as many reps as you can in say, 60 seconds. It takes a shift in thinking, and I had to scale back on the weight a good bit from regular P90X. I did actually prefer the isolation of muscles groups in the original -- I'm not so much a fan of the Total Body workout in +. Also, the intervals DVD broke as I tried to pull it out of the packaging. After a long chat with the company's online support, they sent us a free replacement. Except, they sent plyometrics from the original P90X, not the intervals DVD.

Life after P90X and Insanity
I absolutely love these workout DVDs!!! I am on month 6 of my P90X/Insanity hybrid routine and this was exactly what I needed to kick my workout up a notch. I've been using these for a month now. The workouts are more synergistics focused and I feel my core engaged in this. A key note is that P90X Plus is meant to supplement your P90X routine not to replace it. In line with Tony's philosophy of muscle confusion, you want to change it up and bring it. I'm not sure why the reviews below state that the videos are under par and the routines don't delivery like the original. The DVD quality is very high. And the workouts might not seem to delivery like the original if you are using it as an independent workout. Use it as a supplement to the original. For those without a pullup bar, you will need one for abs/core, total body, and upper. There really isn't a substitute for the exercises that use the pullup bar. Abs plateau easily and the Abs/core plus routine really engages your core with the pullup bar and is a great addition to any ab routine. The DVDs comes with a schedule that supplements P90X. If you really need to kick it up another notch, google the P90X/Insanity schedule and then supplement it with P90X Plus. Bottom line, this DVD set comes highly recommended from me.

P90X+
I'm a 42 yrs old. I got the P90X plus about a week ago and have started the program after having fallen out of my exercise routine when our family relocated 3 months ago. Before then I was running 3 miles per day, stopping every 5 minutes to do 20 push-ups, 50 crunches and a few yoga poses. I had also been working on aerobics with integrated boxing and kicking, using pre-recorded programs on channel 261 (direct tv). A few of them are good, but I needed consistency in my routines and couldn't rely on regular television for that. When I received P90X+ I was happy to finally get a taste of what I've seen on the infomercials for 2+ years. The price point of P90X+ was right where it needed to be for me to finally take the plunge. I was a little scared at first when I saw the upper body plus workout because of the extensive use of the pull up bar. I can't do pull-ups due to what I think is a small bicep tear I experienced last year on my right arm. But once I saw the other workouts I was relieved that they are mostly aerobics with lots of good warm-ups, and combination of yoga, boxing, kickboxing, some martial arts type moves, and exercises using the weight of the body as resistance. This is perfect and is what I have learned through 20+ years of trial and error (when I say "error" I mean either injuries, or excessive time-wasting in the gym) is most effective in an exercise routine. I love Tony's personality, and I LOVE seeing the beautiful Tracy M. It's inspiring to know she is a mother of 6 kids and looks and feels the way she does! I find myself motivated by the workouts, and the best thing is that I can modify them based on my condition; I can slow down if I feel I need to, or do a slightly different exercise if the one they are doing is not right for me. One complaint is the stupid commercials and advertisements at the beginning of each DVD, which takes more time to fast forward to the workouts. Other than that, I rate P90X+ a 4 to 5, in comparison to any other live or pre-recorded exercise program I've seen.

Nice Change of Pace, but Short on Content and Feels Like an Infomercial
I bought this product along with Insanity: The Ultimate Cardio Workout and Fitness DVD Program after I finished the classic P90X Extreme Home Fitness Workout Program - 13 DVDs, Nutrition Guide, Exercise Planner . It's a nice change of pace, and the workouts are effective, so overall I'd say I'm content with the purchase. However, the purchase is marred by a few frustrations. First, the product placement is so shameless and repetitive it's almost comical, like an SNL sketch making fun of infomercials. I'm not talking about the mandatory "don't forget your recovery drink!" that appears once or twice in every P90X video. Tony hawks the Bowflex SelectTech dumbbells so pervasively it feels like this is an infomercial, which would bother me less if this were a free demo on YouTube, but becomes annoying very quickly when it's in a video set you paid $70 for. In one video, he plugs the product about half a dozen times - basically every time he reaches for the dumbbells. "Grab your Bowflex SelectTech adjustable dumbbells! . . . Thank you, Bowflex! I sure love these SelectTech adjustable dumbbells. . . . Don't forget your Bowflex SelectTech adjustable dumbbells!" These are already rushed DVDs, as they tried to pack each workout into a shorter package, and at times they're pretty short on explanation and tips. It would be nice to have that time spent on content instead of wasted repeatedly trying to get us to buy more stuff. Second, one of the great things about the original P90X is the variety of content. You had 6 strength training routines plus the Ab workout (sort of half a workout) and 5 cardio/stretch routines, plus a lovely Nutrition Book and Fitness Guide packed with information and exercise descriptions. This box is more like something out of a bargain bin. Gone are the info-packed books; it just includes a little pamphlet with more product placement, a short exercise program suggestion, and instructions to go to the website to get workout sheets. Beyond that, it costs about half what P90X does, but contains less than half the content: 2 new strength training routines plus a new Ab workout and 2 new cardio routines. So you spend half the money you did for the first program, but you get 4.5 routines with bare-bones informational material instead of 11.5 routines with two material-packed books. Despite the above, as I wrote at the outset, overall I'm content with the program, mostly because I like the new Kenpo workout, the Upper Body Plus workout is great, and I enjoyed the new Ab workout. I just wish I could give the product a whole-hearted 4 or 5 stars like Insanity and P90X instead of a hesitant 3.

Best and most efficient workout in 40/45 minuets!
I finished P90X and was in the middle of the second round when I got tired of doing exercises I don't really like (I don't like doing Yoga and Cardio together. I love Yoga and I like the Cardio routine just not together). Also did not really like having to plan for 60 or 90 minuets of workout and then only netting 300s for calories burned. But this is awesome! It's 40-45 minuets of fast pace high intensity burn! You just keep moving. There's no time to think about it. I'm netting 400-500 calories burned in less time! I read the other reviews about how Tony is not as animated in this series and the complaint of how the same people were used for all the videos but I found it worked better. The pace is soo fast you hardly even look at the TV or hear what is being said because your so concentrated on doing the most in the short amount of time. Highly recommend this series!

Solid workout
I started this work out once my Gym membership was up and after watching a lot of their commercials on the television. It is a good workout since I was not doing most of these moves. I found that, I myself, was not able to gain much muscle from these workouts but that is most likely do to my diet. I did burn a bit of fat and knew that these workouts were, without a doubt, making me leaner. Being a college athlete I was able to keep up with them right off the bat but even if you can not Tony makes it very easy for anyone of any fitness level to keep up and is extremely encouraging making you want to continue to try your hardest. I would definitly recommend this product to anyone that is trying to get into a better physical shape.

P90X+ The cure for P90X boredom.
P90X+ is awesome. Its like starting P90X for the first time again. It's confusing, full of new moves. It's challenging, leaves you drenched and feeling like a million bucks again. If you liked Kempo, P90X+ has Kempo/Cardio+ which is full of new moves, fast paced and awesome. I think Kenpo/Cardio is 40 minutes but feels more like 15. Cant speak for everyone but P90X+ was what my kids and I needed and we're back to enjoying working out again. Nothing like fearing the workout lol. Was worth the money. If you liked P90X I'm sure you'll like P90X+. Check it out on youtube.com before you purchase to get a better idea of it, then get it and push play.
