This is going to hurt! In a world where costumed heroes soar through the sky and masked vigilantes prowl the night, someone's got to make sure the ""supes"" don't get out of line. And someone will! Billy Butcher, Wee Hughie, Mother's Milk, The Frenchman, and The Female are The Boys: A CIA-backed team of very dangerous people, each one dedicated to the struggle against the most dangerous force on Earth - superpower! Some superheroes have to be watched. Some have to be controlled. And some of them - sometimes - need to be taken out of the picture. That's when you call in The Boys! Contains: The Boys Vol. 1: The Name of the Game & The Boys Volume 2: Get Some Review: Sick comic - Way better than the show, had me cracking up laughing. Really excited to read more Review: Wish I had read this first - Very enjoyable read by Garth Ennis. The character development for the book was truly outstanding. I thought the TV version was outstanding, but the book version is far superior! Looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for The Boys.

Definitely buying the next one
Excellent read. A great supplement to the Amazon series though it would be better to say the Amazon series is a great supplement to the comic. Characters are complex. Story is not one dimensional. Art is excellent. Just love that dog Terror. I did find the sexuality a bit much but oh well, perhaps I’m just getting old. Tons of fun.

Over-the-top, irreverent, and profane
Of course, the show has made changes, but at the heart of it, The Boys source material contains the same over-the-top, irreverent, and profane story that I expected. This first volume starts off with the introduction of Hughie, much like the show. However, there is significantly less focus on The Seven in this opening volume than I would have expected. Yes – it does feature Starlight’s introduction to The Seven, and it’s even more horrific than in the show, but little else involving that most elite supe team happens in this book. If you’ve watched the show, you’ll be familiar with how The Boys infiltrate Tek Knight’s twisted not-quite-Bat-Cave, as well as their trip to Russia with the help of Little Nina. In the original story told in this graphic novel, these events happen earlier and for different reasons, but you can see how these versions inspired what happened later in the show. I’m not sure that I need to read more issues of this series since this first volume satisfied my curiosity. The show definitely becomes more political and I didn’t see much of that in this first graphic novel, although that may be because it was published in 2006.

GREAT STORY
Pure brilliance with character interaction. Crude at times but damn entertaining! Hilarious and I couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to pick up book 2.

It’s not like the show, but it’s just as good!!
I picked up this comic because I’ve become a big fan for the show itself, BUT to anyone reading this wanting to buy the books because they think it’ll give a peek to what may happen in the show. THINK AGAIN. The comic is quite different from the show, and personally I enjoy both in their respective media forms. And if you see the cover it says “The series that ‘inspired’ the hit show”. Keyword being inspired, lots of the characters have different personalities compared to the show. So don’t expect a complete copy and paste of the story. Of course it is an acquired taste to enjoy these types of stories, but if you did enjoy the show, you might enjoy this comic too. I sure did, some very hilarious/absurd moments. Another fun thing about reading these books and having seen the show, is connecting all the references or Easter eggs they placed in the show. Consider me very pleased 😉 the show writers did a brilliant job.

Wow. this comicbook is WAAAAY more violent than the TV show.
Ennis and Robertson made one helluva violent comincbook. There is no way they can show these graphics in a public forum. The TV show is watered down 10X compared to this comic book. You have been warned. Good read though. I recommend it to anyone that has the stomach of the gore and sex. Darick-with-one-R does a great job on the artistic visuals. He honed those skills on the excellent Transmetropolitan comic book, which I highly recommend any lover-of-science-fiction to read.

Pick up the First Three volumes
If want a fresh and different take on the super hero Genre please buy the first 3 Volumes and get thru the first volume, completely different than the show so don’t worry about spoiling the show for yourself. It’s full of twists and turns that will leave your mouth open, full of dark comedy and twisted sexual situations that will leave you running to the shower, it’s uncomfortable at times to read but I think that’s the feeling Garth Ennis wanted to project on readers. Best Anti Superhero Story out there, has a lot of themes about homophobia and Sexual Exploitation... I just wish it wasn’t hammered over my head with it over and over again.

Not a review of the product but i received the item extremely damaged and i am in the process of arranging a refund. Very shocked that a brand new book could be shipped out in such a bad state.

A origem da série da Amazon Prime.
A saga que a própria DC achou negra de mais. Garth Ennis no seu esplendor. Começa aqui a saga que mais tarde a Amazon Prime adaptou a série.
