Parallel in width and gently tapered in thickness. Overcut is parallel to file edges and upcut is 90 degree to overcut. Useful for putting serrations on knife edges and to obtain a checkered design similar to a gun hand grip. Double cut top and bottom. Both edges are safe. 20 lines per inch. 1/2" wide x 11/64" thick. Cuts steel
Cuts annealed steel almost too well, I screwed one knife up by going too deep. Used for cutting jimping on knife before heat treat, works great. I know it’s for checkering wood gun stocks but I’m impressed with how it cuts soft steel. Just wish they had less lines per inch

Seems OK, but time will tell
I use it for jimping knive spines. Works OK, but not sure how long it's gonna hold up. After just a few knives it seems like it's getting dull.

Perfect for 1911 front strap checkering
Perfect for checkering a 1911 front strap. I wanted to match the mainspring housing. This was my first attempt and it came out relatively decent. Take your time and use lots of chalk. After this one job, the file lost a few teeth but remains fully functional. I'd estimate you could do at least three or more before any functional loss.
