Fleck 5600 SXT Metered On-demand 48,000 Grain Water Softener

I installed this water softener last week. It is working great, cranking out consistent soft water. I had a couple questions that were sent via their chat option and quickly answered. I ordered in the morning prior to their cutoff time and it was shipped same day. The only very slight negative was the UPS damaging the media tank box, but the tank was packaged well. There was no damage to the tank. Everything was included as described. I already had food grade silicone on hand to lubricate the O rings in the piping yoke, so the only additional item I needed to purchase, as noted, was the brine drain line. That was under $10 at Home Depot, including a couple clamps. Installation will vary based on your situation, but all the parts of the softener fit up easily. I had an existing installation so I plumbed into my existing lines. Love it. Would definitely buy another. The Fleck control head is a high quality unit. I have another that operates an iron filter that has worked flawlessly for the past 8 years, so I definitely wanted to replace my current outdated softener with a Fleck-based unit.

I installed it myself, I am a DIY person but you can have installed by a pluming co. In my opinion it was a fairly easy step by step installation, the written instructions was good and there is you tube (internet) also to simplify it, specially for the step by step programming. The reason I decided to purchase this particular model, was for the metered on-demand function this had drawn my interest, this allows you to set your grain setting and when it reaches it to start the water softening process, it will start on the next programed day and time set by you. This means the operation will save you water, salt and will go on the same day/time that you programed it, although it is very quiet when running. I have communal well water usage, so a good water softener is top priority, I purchased the test kit and test my water weekly before the Fleck Water softener starts up it's cycle and has kept it drinkable and toxic free. I have waited for about three months of operating this water softener before giving a review, to make sure that it operates as advertised, so far I am very pleased with it's operation and functionality.

I live in Northern Indiana and have incredibly hard water. Hard water spots happen instantly and build up happens almost as quickly. I've always used softeners from the big box stores, but never really was satisfied with performance. I finally bit the bullet and purchased this unit with the Fleck head and it absolutely exceeds my expectations. Install was super simple, albeit my house was already plumbed for a softener. Our water has never been better. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. We're going on 7 months with this and I could not be happier. Thanks for an awesome unit A-Plus Water!

It works great

Water softener arrived fast, before the scheduled arrival date! Thank you! Install was done by a great friend who is trained in water softener installations. This was his former job. He said printed instructions were easy and no issues. All items packaged good. No damage and nothing missing. So far it's working great! We have very hard water with iron in it and now it is crystal clear! Very happy with how it is working! Highly recommend this brand of softener! We have not had to use Tech Support from the company, however trust they would be helpful if needed.

*NOTE* The 5 stars are for the product and shipping, NOT the sellers ability to follow through on their promises as I was not given any instructions for install or programming, so false advertising from the seller on that one. I'm very handy, and the parts made sense but some confirmation would've been nice and the programming is in no way intuitive! I'm going to give a shout out to the two gentlemen that helped out instead! You WILL NEED the tubing which goes from the meter and brine tanks to your floor drain, this softener does not come with it. I believe a 3/8" ID on the brine and 1/2" ID on the meter along with hose clamps for both. Amazing product! We moved in to an (almost) brand new home and the previous seller had a Pelican unit installed. It was a dual "conditioner" and whole house filter. There were white lime scale stains all over our dishwasher, sink fixtures, sink, even a gross film on our granite countertops. We installed this unit with the help of my Father and Father in law, in about 3 hours (they are very thorough.) We have Pex plumbing and I believe they used shark bite fittings. We called 602ABCwater to figure out how to program the unit and that took about 20 minutes but only because it was not connected correctly. Now the softener has been giving us amazing water for showers, my hair and skin feel 10x better and I do not have to worry about our appliances getting damaged from hard water buildup. I read tons of reviews before purchasing and am so happy I did. This unit is fantastic for the price and we are extremely happy with it. I have already recommended it to several of our neighbors who are looking for a great softener.

After reading many reviews of this water softener on Amazon, I decided to order and install it in my daughter's new home. Overall, its great value for the price when ordered with free shipping. The cylinder part is heavy; maybe 90 lbs! The documentation was prepared by Water Boss. I followed the instructions and in general, they were clear and easy. There was one part concerning hooking up the brine line that didn't match the parts that I received. After some analysis, I was able to put together the brine hose in the correct configuration and hook it to the brine tank. As others have mentioned, I didn't like the by-pass valve that attaches to the back of the softener cylinder nozzles. With the by-pass and 1" hose adapter, it adds almost a foot to the back of the cylinder. I created my own by-pass with PVC since I had to create all of the water loop and connections anyway. With just the 1" nozzle adapter on the back, I hooked it up to steel flex hoses an then to the PVC water loop. Start up instructions were clear and was able to get the system up in running with little hassle. The LCD display is nice and shows the time and gallons remaining until next regen. A 48,000 grain system is really overkill for my daughter and her roommate in a two bedroom house, but having that capacity has the advantage of longer periods between regen and uses less salt. After installation, the water hardness went from 250+ ppm to 0 ppm using test strips that I picked up from Lowes. For the price, the durability and capacity of this system is a great bargain. Just watch the dimensions; its BIG and heavy.

Perfect everything as described great communication instructions product and value. Only thing it doesn’t come with the necessary parts to hook it up to the water pipes, which can be easily solved with flexible shark bite.
