Why does it say japan and france but also london and new york? (japan and france are countries, while london and new york are cities)

They do mix city, state, country - but one reason might be that some countries have multiple time zones so it's worth being more specific (USA has LA, Phoenix, Chicago, New York separated out). For "London" they can't use GMT because it would not work properly when hitting Daylight Savings time and UK technically has more than 1 time zone. Otherwise, it's a piece of art and I suppose the quirky labeling is part of the design. One bit of feedback as a user of this clock in the southern hemisphere, it doesn't quite work because we have opposite seasons and opposite daylight savings times. A bit of mental math is still needed when reading the clock.

What about bst differing from dst ? this clock doesnt account for that

This clock runs off a quartz movement so you will have to manually adjust for DST.

Is the mechanical part replaceable? Do they make a replacement that has a separate place for gear of 24 hr wheel?
