Philips Automotive Lighting D2R Authentic Xenon HID Headlight Bulb with 4200K Intense White Light, Fits Select High Beam and Low Beam Positions, 1 Pack

Bought two Sunday night (October 25th) and received them today (Wednesday October 28th) using standard FREE shipping. Nice! Looks like the real deal - Philips bulbs- I have no reason to believe otherwise based on packaging and bulb appearance. Great price at almost half of what Auto Parts stores sell these for. They work fine and have the right color - looks good. I'll write a review later if these have issues or fail early. Installation is fairly easy. If you have any sort of mechanical ability --- like changing a faucet washer, changing a household light bulb, handling basic tools, etc. these should not be a problem replacing on your own. Suggestions (2002 Nissan Maxima): 1 - Don't touch the actual glass on the bulb... some feel that oil from your hands can significantly reduce its lifetime. Opinions vary because that was the standard rule with halogen (which create a lot of heat). I just didn't want to take a chance. 2- You may have to move your battery to access the drivers side light. Not a problem. You don't have to remove it, just move it out of the way. If you have a newer battery, it's probably smaller than OEM (mines smaller) and you don't have to move it at all. 3- You don't need any tools to access or remove the bulb. It can all be done by hand. 4- The cover turns counter clockwise about 1/8 of a turn to remove. 5- The power connector moves slightly less counter clockwise to remove. 6 - The little clip that secures the bulb will move back into place after you squeeze it and then remove the bulb. Just lift up and put the new bulb in and squeeze back into place. It moves up and down... it will not fall out. 7 -Pay attention to bulb position and replace bulb in the same position. 8 - Put everything back in place. 9 - Check headlights! 10- You're done! Congrats you just saved a couple hundred bucks! THANKS AMAZON! P.S. My car is a 2002. Both bulbs went out within days of each other. I suggest replacing both bulbs at once. HID (Xenon) do not work the same as standard halogen bulbs -- they use a lot of energy and require an ignitor -- the system has a bit more going on and has other components that can fail. I hope if you are having headlight issues the solution is a simple inexpensive one. :-)

This review is for Philips D2R Standard Authentic Xenon HID Headlight Bulb, 1 Pack. I had bougthen this bulb back in 2020 when the driver side headlight on my Infiniti G35 started flickering and finally went out a few months later. I wanted an authentic HID bulb for my car so I chose this Philips D2R C1 bulb because it has a Certificate of Authentication (CoA) affixed to the bottom of the box that I could verify on their website. Mine was authentic so that was a relief. I wasn’t sure if the new light would match my other light because it was “85126” and not “85126+” like the old bulb but I went ahead and installed it anyway. Replacing the headlight on the Infiniti G35 isn’t as difficult as many YouTubers make it out to be. There are even videos with people saying to take out the tyres!? Some say removing the tyres is not necessary but then they turn the tyres inwards, which is actually counterintuitive to me. I turned my tyres outward as far as it would go and it was wide open for me to reach in and do what I had to do. It took about 30 minutes to get the job done. The trick is to remember how everything fits in originally and use markers or photos to notate, if necessary. Another trick is to put the new bulb directly into the housing, lock it in place, and then attach the power connector. I had a difficult time when I attached the new bulb to the power connector first and then tried to lock them into position afterwards. Don’t do that! Just stick the new bulb into the slot, lock it in place with the clamp and then connect the power. Much easier doing it this way! Also, wear gloves to prevent touching the bulb. When I was done, the new light matched perfectly to the original passenger side headlight so I was really happy with it. Overall, perfect OEM headlight. It’s made in Germany and not China. I would recommend buying directly from Amazon and not a third party seller to ensure that you get an authentic Philips headlight. My original headlight lasted almost 10 years so I'm hoping that this one will last as long. I’d give it a 5.0/5.0 - 08/07/2023. 09/13/2025: I had to replace my passenger side low beam light and I followed the same procedure as the first time and it went smoothly. 1. Turn wheels outward. 2. Remove clips/screws to lower or remove fender liner to access bulb housing lid cover 3. Remove bulb power connector 4. Unlock clamp and remove old bulb 5. Insert new bulb and lock new bulb securely w/clamp 6. Reconnect power 7. TEST bulb 8. Close bulb housing securely and 9. Reinstall fender liner w/clips and screws. That's it guys, it should take 30 minutes to 1 hour MAX depending on how easy it is for you to remove the clips/liners and insert the bulb back into position before closing everything up. To see how the bulb should be positioned, just take a look at the other working light bulb from the outside and see what direction the ignitor is pointed (down). I've added more pictures (Sep 2025).

These Philips 85126 D2R HID bulbs are the same OE bulbs that were installed in my 2004 Infiniti G35. As a result, they worked perfectly. In combination with using Sylvania's Headlight Restoration Kit, installing these bulbs restored my headlights back to what they were like when I first bought my car. Unfortunately, the installation in my car was a pain because the headlights are only accessible via the wheel wells. Before buying these bulbs, you might want to check the installation instructions for your car. If accessing your headlights is non-trivial, consider replacing the other bulbs at the same time (e.g. for your high beams). Since I had never replaced an HID headlight before and the owner's manual states that I need to have the dealer do it, I did some investigation on the Internet to see if I could replace them on my own. For those who do the same, you will likely encounter discussion about variations of these bulbs manufactured by Philips. I have seen references to the 85126, 85126+, and 85126CM variations. These may not all be sold by Philips in the US. Supposedly the difference between these variations is the initial color temperature and the color temperature shift that occurs during the first few hundred hour burn-in period. You can tell which variation you have from the labeling on the base of the bulb. Interestingly, when I opened the first Amazon box , it contained an 85126+ bulb as labeled on the base. I was happy to see this since based on my reading these bulbs are preferable. I was disappointed when I opened the second Amazon box that it contained an 85126 (without a plus) bulb as labeled on the base. I checked carefully, and all aspects of the boxes, including the labeling, were identical. When I removed the OE bulbs from my car, I discovered they were both 85126+ bulbs. Given the potential difference between the new bulbs, I was apprehensive that once I got the bulbs installed that they would have a noticeable color difference. Despite looking for such a difference after the initial installation, I couldn't detect any. The bulbs have been installed for just over two weeks now, and I still can't detect any difference. Unfortunately, I don't know if this means that I am not discerning enough to see the difference, whether the difference will appear as the bulbs age, or whether the labeling on the base of the bulbs is actually insignificant.

Light works fine. Bought a used vehicle and dealer would not replace the headlamp when I called them to tell them it was out. So I bought this and installed it and still not headlight on the Passenger side. so I took it in to a repair shop and they found a disconnected wire. But it seems a lot brighter than the driver side.

These are expensive but the seller had best price and fast shipping. Came in the Phillips original boxes and said Phillips on the bulb. Authentic product. I first went with the cheaper HID but found they did illuminate light as well as the Phillips did. Worth the money. Don’t want to skimp on your vision at night

I got tired of paying $120 for parts and labor to replace my 2003 Nissan Maxima headlight bulb. But I was afraid that the bulb replacement process would be too difficult. After procrastinating for a month, I finally decided to research the project online. My first problem was trying to find a reasonably price bulb for my Maxima. After comparing all of the different types, I decided to go with the bulb that boasted a familiar name (Philips) and one with plenty of "Stars." Now it's my turn to reward this item with 5 "Stars." This bulb looks and acts just like the one I took out. The one new bulb seems to match the old bulb fine... I can't tell them apart. Also, the whole installation took only 15 minutes, and it was not very hard. The only tool I needed was a simply wrench to loosen the car battery terminals and retaining bracket screws (for the car battery). I needed to remove the car battery to give me enough space to work with (I replaced the driver side headlight bulb, the passenger side does not require removing anything). The actual bulb assembly does not need tools to remove and replace. I would recommend checking the "Nicoclub.com" site for detailed instructions on the step by step process before actually tackling the job. I know there may be cheaper bulbs available and I can't say how good those might be, but I can definitely tell you that this Philips bulbs really works great and is worth every cent I paid for it. I am very happy that my Nissan Maxima is now street legal again!

I ordered two of these, because HIDs historically changed color with age, and replacing only one capsule leaves you with headlights that don't match. Unfortunately, the ones I ordered came in different types of Philips packaging containing capsules marked with different model names. One box was more compact and had different graphics than the other. The boxes both look genuine but I believe they are from different years. While both boxes said 85126C1 on the outside, one capsule said 85126 on the base, and the other said 85126+. My understanding is that Philips created the + version to compensate for and/or avoid the "color shift" effect that occurs over time with use. I have read from unofficial sources that the "+" designation has been phased out, because Philips redesigned all of their OEM replacement HID capsules to maintain their color temperature over time. However based on the different packaging that I received, I don't know what I received. Did I receive a old non-+, which will color-shift, or a new non-+, which will not color-shift? Will I have to wait a few years to find out? On the plus side, the capsules appeared to be genuine. They fit in the car and light up, as expected.

These were the exact same bulbs my vehicle came with which I was very happy with! My original passenger bulb went out but lasted 7 year on my G35 Sedan. The bulb actually shattered upon close inspection, but none of the components ended up in the actual light encasing. I also knew it was time to change it anyways as it was fluttering every now and then, especially during winter (1 year ago). I replaced both these bulbs and the light is a brilliant white just as it came the day I got the car! There is a easy way to remove and replace this bulb for the G35 by simply removing the tire and the black firewall plastic affixed to the wheel well. Total time to remove and replace was: under 30 minutes for each bulb. Make sure you do NOT touch the bulb itself when installing as the oils from your hands will remain on the glass aperture and eventually will end the bulb life prematurely. Overall extremely satisfied with my purchase from Amazon, and for them even carrying this item! ***Update March 2019*** Had to replace these *again*, and yes on the same car which I last wrote above way back when. Apparently these bulbs last approximately 4 years under normal usage, at least for me they do. I last replaced these both January 2015. What I found was the light output was not as great as it use to be and the one bulb wasn't burned out but had this pinkish yellowish hue lately. These Phillips bulbs are OEM that the manufacturer recommends using and found at a reasonable price on Amazon. My only complaint with ordering these bulbs is how they are going to be delivered. I had a small box with just the one bulb rattling around inside. I know for a fact these are quite fragile and submitted a complaint to better insulate these bulbs during shipment. Other than that, I highly recommend these to anyone without skipping a beat!

It probably won't be as good as switching to an LED and the lag time in starting up is a bit of a nuisance but I think this bulb will be of higher quality and last longer than some of the cheaper ones.

Works on my 2003 Acura TL, but makes my other older bulb look a bit dim now. I think my other bulb is just old. New bulb is the correct brightness. Not hard to replace.
