HitLights 36W Dimmable LED Driver Transformer, Power Supply 100-277V AC to 12V DC, Compatible with Lutron Leviton Dimmers, for LED Strip Lights, Constant Voltage LED Projects, UL-Listed

I purchased this supply for LED light strips under the cabinets for a basement bar. The project is ready for me to install it yet, but I did connect to the longer LED strip than will be installed to test it with a Lutron dimmer. It worked perfectly and didn't get hot with my load that was ~20W. The reason I picked this specific power supply is because of it shape and size. In this application, the only place to locate this power supply is inside the top most section of the cabinets. This one is short enough to fit front-to-back in the cabinet and small enough to be essentially hidden by the cabinet front face frame!

Definitely not overloaded, but transformer shorted out and stared to melt. Almost had a fire, thankfully I was here and monitoring after installation. Lasted maybe 30 minutes before failure. Have 5 other units at different wattage, only the 36 watt unit took a cr@p. No way to return due to time before I got to install it. Booo I'm out $43

Easy to wire- no hum, however runs warm to touch

Had bought HitLights strip lighting for above our kitchen cabinets but they were too bright just plugged in. These dimmable driver transformers were easy to install and work great. We can now dim the lights at night so they are not so bright.

As another reviewer mentioned the 12v 36w version gets dangerously hot. I am power four 24” LED strips and this version burned a hole through itself and into the top of a kitchen cabinet. I would choose another version.

I checked that I was not overloading and left about 20% capacity. My LED strips are drawing 2.2A (27W at 12VDC). The driver is drawing .43A at 120VAC which is 51W on the input side. The information stamped on it states that input maximum draw is 0.55A, so that means that this is a really inefficient device. What alarms me most is that when checked by a non-contact thermometer, the highest temperature I read is 165°F when going back and forth over the length of it. This concerns me a lot, as I'm using it for non-dimmed under-cabinet lighting.

This driver worked perfectly for connecting my LED strips to a Lutron Casetta Lamp Module! It handles doing very smoothly with no flickering or buzzing.

I am a professional electrical contractor. I've used this driver twice now, and I like it. Slim, low profile, and quiet. Also seems to fade very smoothly.
