Southern Staple
Edna Lewis was a scion of true Southern cooking. This book was filled with great menus and recipes. It’s become my go-to cookbook whenever I want to make a Southern meal.

Really enjoyable cook book for cooks and historians of cooking.
Recipes and historical information is enlightening! I gifted the Taste of Country Cooking and The Edna Lewis Cookbook after participating in a Chefs Tasting & Paring at my Club by our amazing sous chef who introduced the group to Edna Lewis. Chef Jim’s presentation was a honorable venue for our communities Juneteenth celebration.

Wonderful book
Read it cover to cover…it is more than recipes, it is stories and laughter on a warm spring day and cozy winter afternoons in the kitchen with family. I couldn’t put this down until I had read it alL, and love the recipes

Never heard of Edna Lewis until her legacy was discussed in the recent episode of Top Chef. Immediately ordered the book. Such a treasure trove of information about the southern cuisine and the way it is presented in seasons coz of the availability of fresh produce. Loved it. Edna is comparable to Julia Child. How she brought southern cuisine to limelight just like Julia did to french cuisine. This is not just a recipe book, we get a glimpse of the author's life too. Just tried the biscuits and they are to die for.

The book arrived and frankly, not what I expected. I set to work and tried three recipes — Brava! I’m an amateur cook but love my food. These simple to follow recipes delivered big on flavour. A keeper.
