Rain-Bird ESP-TM2 Indoor Outdoor Irrigation WiFi Zone Controller Timer Box and Link Lnk WiFi Mobile Wireless Smartphone Upgrade Module Sprinkler System (6 Zone)

I had a 14 year old rain bird sprinkler controller operating 4 zones at my home. It worked, but anytime I wanted to monitor it, change settings or operate manually, I had to go outside, push away some nearby bushes and stand in the hot sun to do the work. I purchased this unit to replace and upgrade my existing system. It took under 10 minutes to remove the old system, mount and connect this one. Could not have been easier. In just a few additional minutes (after downloading the Rain Bird app) I had it connected and programmed. Now anytime, day or night, home or away, I can check to see if my system is working, turn on one or all zones, change durations etc. As an added bonus, the app checks local weather and AUTOMATICALLY adjusts the watering time you set up based on the forecast. Over the last month, it has reduced or increased the watering duration based on temperature in my area, and when combined with a rain sensor, I now have a reliable, hands free, flexible watering solution for my home. I highly recommend this unit and wifi module as an upgrade for a current rain bird system or for a first time user.

I had some difficulty with my Samsung phone but switched to my One+ tablet then the install was a breeze. Went back to my phone and it somehow woke up. Maybe the problem between the two was the following: I followed exactly my old Rain Bird wiring, that was a slight mistake. Along with the sprinkler station wires for both new and old there is a "C" and "M" slot on the new one. "C" stands for common, but what is "M"? My old one had a ground wire in that slot, so I attached my old ground wire to the "M" slot, mistake! The new one doesn't take a ground wire, so leave the "M" slot blank. I left a message with tech support, they called me back a couple of days latter, which is really nice, but I had already figured it out. Excellent product, after seven years with my old one, I look forward to ten years with this one. In ten years maybe AI will take care of it all.

This controller was extremely easy to set up. From Installtuon, to connectimg to WiFi and then programming my zones in less than 20 minutes. After spending 2 days troubleshooting the previous brand's WiFi connection, this was a blessing.

Already knew this was a great timer. Adding WIFI capability gave me the reason to buy a new one. The software is just okay. They could do better but it does work.

Pros: App is easy to program and once set, it works flawlessly. Cons: I’ve had to re-setup the WiFi several times. Although the app is user-friendly, the controller is not at all. It definitely needs a redesign. The app has a bug: When I want to water a Zone manually, it usually works fine. When I mistakenly hit “stop watering” ( I didn’t finish watering), it does NOT let me start again; I get a message that it’s busy (or something like that), and try later. Unfortunately, “later” never comes, so I have to try several hours later.

So happy I bought this to replace my previous controller. Can now turn on my sprinklers using my cell phone!

So 9 times out of 10 when I order something to make my life easier it ends up being a huge headache or causes me to do quite a few things to make it work as it should and I end up wishing I hadn’t even tried to update whatever. So I have a dock that runs off of my irrigation well and I have to start the irrigation to use my water at my dock. Not only that it is also kind of a pet peeve of mine to not allow the irrigation to run while it is raining but my controller is in a detached garage that’s a bit of a walk from my dock and can be slightly inconvenient in the rain too! After checking about and researching updating my controller with one with WiFi this was the solution. I couldn’t be happier As far as the install straight forward. Took maybe 15-20 mins. ***Label your wires and take a pick before you disconnect the wires!*** I wish I did this update years ago. This is going to save me a lot of time!

Upgrade from my 26 year old earlier model of this exact same controller. Extremely easy to use. Very intuitive operation. WiFi capability. Excellent product and great value.
