Never Smile at a Monkey: And 17 Other Important Things to Remember Review: Read with your kids - This book is a great read for all ages. It contains information about how animals may see us and tips for things we may do that make the animals agressive. It has an expanded vocabulary with interesting new words to learn. I bought several to donate to elementary school libraries. It is very entertaining. Review: I was a Mystery Reader star! - My daughter's first grade class has parents come in four days a week to read to the students... the thing is, it's a surprise. My schedule had recently changed, so suddenly I was able to participate! The dilemma: What book do you read to a room full of unique 6- and 7-year-olds? This fabulous nonfiction book. I was the belle of the ball! The students couldn't get enough of these fun (sometimes shocking) facts about what to do if you encounter certain animals in the wild. Unfortunately, due to the excitement and risk of imminent death, I did not have time to finish reading the book. "But you must!" one of the girls exclaimed, "What if we meet up with the other animals and don't know what to do?!" :) No worries. I left it with the teacher to finish at the end of the day. Due to Never Smile at a Monkey, I received a gold star. :)

Awesome Book with Lots of Facts About Animals
Love this book. I read it for my daughters and students. I like how I read a page and then we can check out a youtube video of the animal. Great facts, too!

Never smile at a monkey
A delightful and simple way to introduce children to venomous or dangerous creatures - beautifully illustrated. And the bonus is the facts pages at the end of the book. It is a great book for young children.

Wild animal tips
Steve Jenkins always does a great job presenting the animal world to young readers. Young children will most likely not encounter these animals but will gain an appreciation of their wild nature from this book. Nicely done.

good information, but NOT for young kids!
The age range for this book is 4-8 years old, so I bought a copy for each of our nephews--age 4 and 5. I'm VERY glad I read the book before giving it as a gift, because the book is really not for kids that young. I would never give this to a child younger than 10. Every page tells a story of how an animal can hurt or kill you, and that's a really scary message for young kids. Still, the information in the book is interesting and little-known. I just wouldn't give it to young children for bedtime reading!
