Works amazing for the price
So I got this camera to monitor a stray with a severely fractured pelvis that I am fostering. It’s in a 30” kennel mounted in the top corner that’s covered by a sheet often. It’s always what we be considered “low light” so probably the least ideal conditions and I still love it. I have not one ounce of regret. Could it be better? Sure, but I have a feeling most of my cons are addressed in the higher tier items so I’m not complaining at all. Pros 1 it just works! I didn’t have to fuss and fight with it, didn’t really even read the manual aside from what app to download. I had to try a few times to scan the QR code on my phone, it still only took 3 or 4 minutes. 2 the clarity of the picture in normal & IR mode. It’s gives a nice defined image from close like I have it or across my apartment like when setting it up. it will work great when he’s all healed to maybe catch some fun cat antics in my apartment. 3 on that point the connectivity on the wifi and cellular is fantastic!!! I haven’t had a single issue with it not connecting or behaving improperly once connected. It even warns on cellular that it may use alot of data. Take notes Wyze I think I could go on vacation and actually connect to this camera, I have been converted! 4 It is great in low light, especially if you use the IR light in pitch black situations! I don’t because although the internet says cats can’t see infrared light my kitten disagrees when he tries to hide from the camera when I turn the IR on. 5 the included mounting stuff works great. I may have made a frankenstein out of it now, but once it’s not in the cage that hardware will work great. 6 it does well at all the normal camera stuff it should like adjusting focus, adjusting lighting, moving without binding, taking pictures and videos from the app, reviewing footage… all the normal stuff. Cons, they are slight and if I used it like a normal camera all but one wouldn’t be an issue. 1 when you move the camera with the app the camera itself can make a very slight sound. Through the app, it’s a pretty loud sound. It wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t 16 inches or less from a hurt/scared kitty… it doesn’t surprise him after 2 days but he notices. Again it’s really barely noticeable. 2 it sometimes makes a slight “clickity clack” when adjusting the focus when say I reach my hand in the cage. This might not be a thing if mounted more than 2 feet from something. It also may be switching to the non IR night vision (B&W). Again not real loud unless you’re right there, still not a problem. 3 this one is the app, but again it’s probably because of the small kennel it’s in. I wish the motion detection could be less sensitive than it can currently be. Again when 1/3 of the image moves there’s not much you can do. 4 this one isn’t specific to my situation, but I just wish the degrees of rotation for every camera movement up or down/side to side wasn’t so drastic. Not a complaint as the slightly higher priced offerings from WansView probably have finer rotation, I’m just cheap 😁 In conclusion this is a great camera! I will recommend it to anyone that wants a camera to monitor something whether that’s property, pets, people, nature or the inside of a small kennel. It’s just great. Not just good for the price just good. 10/10 I would buy again

This is a great camera. I have 4 of them with more on the way.
TL:dr It's a great product at an amazing price point which is easy to setup and use. It does more that you'd expect.... Long version: Like others you might have looked at the reviews and wondered about the negative ones. I did too. Well it’s worth remembering that you don’t know anything about the skill level or anything else about the person writing the review. Hey, that’s applies to me too! Packaging: no complaints, it’s all there; power cube, cable, mounting bracket and screws. Setup: no complaints. Just install the app, create an account and follow the instructions on the app to connect. It will ONLY work on a 2.4G WiFi connection and you’ll need the password for your 2.4G network. Frankly those having difficulty connecting this product are likely to have difficulty with ANY similar camera as they ALL follow the same connection format. Usage: the online app provides everything that any reasonable person would need and it’s easy to use too. The desktop app isn’t anywhere near as developed as the phone app…. but the device wasn’t intended to be used from a PC. Picture Quality. It’s great. I can monitor my car at night without issue. Local storage: A (not supplied) 128G micro-sd will store about 14 days of my (fairly comprehensive) video. No issues. Cloud Storage: VERY reasonably priced, fully integrated into the app and works very well providing the instances where motion was detected Motion Detection. All those complaining that “it doesn’t provide continuous monitoring” are missing the point and have unreasonable expectations. Here’s the deal; nobody wants to have a continuous recording of, say their baby sleeping, or their car parked on the street because those images aren’t interesting. What IS interesting and useful to have a recording and an alert when SOMETHING HAPPENS. Like baby moves. Or someone is close to your car. Or there is free pizza…. Now, if you really want to have as close to “continuous” recording as possible, just set the sensitivity level to max and it will record the slightest movement. You’ll probably turn the sensitivity level down when you find that recordings of “no movement” was caused by a moth flying by. In short, I have 4 and more are on the way. It’s less than $30 so buy some already. You have just spent more than $30 of your time reading these reviews.

Excellent Customer Service and Shockingly Easy to Use
I recently adopted a one-year old dog through a local rescue agency, and, very dishearteningly, I soon learned that the situation from which my dog had been pulled was an extremely abusive one, where most of the dogs were left to fend for themselves or kept in groups in cardboard boxes. At only five pounds, Lily, my new (and most wonderful) friend, has had a great deal of anxiety as a consequence of these early-life experiences. When I leave my house to run errands on which she cannot accompany me, I crate her, and I have been (out of my own dog-guardian anxiety!) worried about how she handles my absence during those periods. A colleague of mine suggested Wansview, and she could not have been more correct. Reviews of the application through which the Wansview camera works (I will discuss set-up momentarily) paint a curiously negative picture, some saying that recent changes in the application have made it difficult to sustain a connection with the camera. I downloaded the application, as the instructions requested, and I began the setup process. I thought I had done it properly and was thus surprised when the camera could not seem to establish an audiovisual connection between its recording lens and my cellphone. Here, two points must be noted, both of which will hopefully gesture toward the quality of the product and the excellent customer service Wansview offers. First, the error on my part--the instructions say clearly that a new user must wait to hear certain phrases emitted by the camera's microphone to confirm that it is completely operational. Due to hasty reading on my part, I did not notice the final phrase for which one was supposed to wait, the content of which offered confirmation of a secure, steady Internet signal. Within about ten minutes of the camera having been installed, I received a notification to update my firmware to the latest version (this notification was not the consequence of any complaint I had registered; it was simply the application informing me that new firmware was available). I downloaded the firmware, and the feed began to work. Since then, I have never had a problem with accessing the feed, and I am able to check in on Lily while I am running errands. Never having owned a dog, I have had my fair share of first-dog anxiety, and I am now able to determine how long after my departure Lily whines (steadily decreasing and now only lasting a few minutes) and check in on her while she is in her crate to ensure that she is sleeping and safe. The relief of that knowledge alone makes the product worthwhile. The quality of the feed is also excellent, so much so that I play it in its SD variety (I haven't needed to go the HD route because everything is already clear as crystal). The application is incredibly easy to use, and since the successful installation I have not had to do anything. Now, for the second point. Between my initial installation of the application and the ten to fifteen minutes it took for the firmwarm to update and for the camera to start working (during that time I could not maintain or open a connection between the camera's feed and my cellphone), I sent an e-mail to Wansview's customer service department. One of their agents, Melody, responded within 24 hours. Not only did she provide me with instructions on how to begin to assess what the potential issue might be and how she could help me address that, she explained that Wansview so stands by its products that if my camera proved defective I could return it at no charge or have it replaced. Because the camera was already working, I made a note to myself to reply to her e-mail later in the day. When, due to my own error, I forgot to reply to Melody's message, confirming that the camera was indeed working, she followed up me with via e-mail to confirm that I had received her message and to ask what she could do to help ensure that the camera was working. I do not know if I have ever had a customer-service experience during which a company representative reached out to me a second time because I mistakenly failed to reply to their first message. In her second message, she reiterated her commitment to helping me ensure that the product worked properly and that Wansview's ethic was one that stood behind the quality of its products and the quality of customers' experiences with those products. I immediately replied, thanked her for her message, and explained how happy I was with the quality of the product. In short, even if you experience any issues with this camera during setup, it seems like Wansview takes very seriously its commitment to customer service. As someone not altogether fluent in techno-gadgetry, the abundant interest in helping to ensure that I could use the camera with use certainly marks out Wansview as unique in my experience. And, the price is a terribly affordable one. All in all, I would encourage anyone to consider buying this camera, and, if they choose to do so, to buy it with the ease of knowing that there is an active customer-service team happy to interface with you and help resolve any issues.

quality is excellent
I've had these Q5 3MP cameras for about a year now, and I highly recommend them. The image quality is excellent, even at night thanks to the infrared vision. The motion sensor is fantastic, and they offer the option to record 24/7 to a free micro SD card. They're well-built and easy to install. I only have two things I didn't like about them. I have five of the same model, and some track motion while others don't (I don't understand why), but it's something I don't use since they don't return to their original position. The other issue is that if you lose your home internet connection, the app doesn't give you the option to connect to the cameras through the local network. Let me explain: the cameras are connected to my Wi-Fi network, my phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network, but the app only connects to the internet. If you lose your internet connection, you won't be able to access the cameras even if you're connected to the same Wi-Fi network via local connection. This is important to me because I bought them to monitor my home, and there are many internet service interruptions in my area. I think the manufacturer could improve this with an update. Another thing: they offer (Real-time Motion Alert: Alert notification and 10s video will be sent to your phone), but the 10-second video isn't free; you have to pay for a subscription, and I think that's something they should mention in the product description. The free version does send motion alerts, but without the video clip. Because of these two issues, I'm not giving it 5 stars. But overall, I highly recommend them for indoor surveillance.

First Class Product AND Support!
This is a first class camera with first class service. I purchased 2 of these for inside my home. They are a breeze to set up and the app is so easy to operate. You can either use an on board micro SD card to record your video or a very reasonably priced cloud service which will support up to 3 cameras for the same price. The cameras connect to wifi easily and only require a 5V power supply. Unlike Blink cameras these can be always on to monitor on a screen while recording movement according to configurations you can set. The customer support is excellent. One of my cameras stopped connecting and support responded in less than 24 hours and worked with me until we had got the camera working again. You simply don't find support like this for most products. They have both indoor and outdoor cameras. I would recommend Wansview products to anyone. Thank you.

FANTASTIC CAMERA AMAZING CUSTOMER SUPPORT!
I've had my camera for over 2 years and loved how easy it was to set up. No hard wiring either. just a regular wall outlet. I recently had to reset my camera and had a bit of trouble getting it back online. I reached out to Customer support. They were great! The camera tells you what to send and even gives you the email address to reach out to. I was extremely impressed that not only did they get back to me quickly but did some research before reaching out. They knew what was happening and as luck would have it, I was able to get the camera back online before they were able to reach out & knew it was back online and checked that not only was this correct but to make sure there was nothing else they could do for me. Now back to the camera. the resolution is great, the night vision is fantastic and when we travel I activate the motion sensor and alarm so if anything strange happens I'm not only notified but can see for myself and have video "just in case it's needed" the motion detection can be adjusted thru your smart phone to make it more or less sensitive depending on what you want. I would highly recommend this simple to use camera to anyone that wants to keep an eye on things even when you're away. I've even checked on our dog when we've been out and about for a long day. I can even talk to her thru the camera how cool is that! if I could only say a few words they would be GET IT! YOU WON'T REGRET IT! UPDATE: 5/2024 It's been 4 years since I purchased my camera- it suddenly wouldn't connect at all about a month ago- I emailed Waynesview to request assistance, also asked about an recommendation for an outdoor camera model too. as I said it's been about a month & I've still not received an communication from the email I sent. don't known what happened to their customer support but it's pretty much non existent. The camera was still a very good camera so I bought another one. I just hope the new one lasts at least as long as the original did. cause you really cannot beat the price.

Bad RTSP implementation
This camera, Q5W has a great picture and PTZ works as expected. It connected easily with no issues. The bad part is a horrible implementation of RTSP/onvif. Camera connects great and works for a day or so, then the RTSP steam is corrupted and it loses connection. Still connected in the app, but no RTSP. To solve this I have to power cycle, i.e. unplug and plug back in, to get the RTSP stream back. I have 4 other Wansview non-PTZ fixed cameras with the same issue. I have the latest update for all cameras so the issue just propagates from version to version with no fix in sight. Update: One week after I wrote this review, the camera died. I will try a replacement and post back on the success or failure of the second one. To fix it, or at least patch the issue, each camera has to be on a coffee pot timer to power down and back up every other day or the stream goes away. My QS1 (very old) and three QS3's do not have this issue with RTSP or ONVIF and never loses the stream. To those worried about Wansview using your stream, they are a good company, but you can always disable internet for your camera in your router to prevent that once you set it up. Stream still works. For those missing the ability to have a static IP address, it's still there, you just have to connect to your network, write down the IP address in the app, then go to your router and assign that IP to be a static IP for that MAC address and the router will always use that IP address for the camera when the cameras DHCP asked for an IP. Very disappointed at Wansview for breaking their own product and passing that bad product back to the consumer. Guess it's time to change brands to something more reliable. Last update: 04/15/2023. Second camera works for a while but now is doing the same thing on a longer interval. Perhaps it's just bad electronics, but I think the RTSP/ONVIF has issues. At least it made it a week or so instead of every day, time will tell but I guess I'm camera brand shopping now.

Great camera; exceptional price.
So far so good. Purchased two of these to keep an eye on my parent who was recently diagnosed with dementia. A bit of a learning curve to set-up. Once set-up the cameras have been working great. They track the subject and also swivel 360 degrees. The night picture is very good. The microphone is okay but we have ring cameras and that microphone is just okay too. This is a great little camera at an exceptional price. ADVICE: Be sure to turn on the location for this app and hook up will be a breeze.
