Terrifiic Product, True Owner, No Marketing Ploy!
How do I put how satisfied I am with this product into words? I really can't. This little stick is just THAT good. Let me go into detail all the little ways this device has impressed me. I like to watch rock videos and watch drum videos from time to time on Youtube, which isn't very known for audiophile sound. Now, I had bought some $200 pair of headphones and tired all sorts of software options prior to obtaining this product. Let me tell those interested in the product, the sound quality BLEW ME AWAY! Sounds I never thought I could hear were in PERFECT clarity and enhanced to the point that I was shocked. Highs were more crisp, low sounds suddenly came better into focus, and I just for hours surfed the web for videos to test this product out. Impressed me every time. The interface is simple and easy to use. The product offers different features such as putting a sound source into places like a concert hall or amphitheater. The product also includes a graphical EQ that can be enhanced to change the sound makeup. Trust me, compared to what I have used before, you would only need to adjust a small bit as this product is super sensitive to adjustments. The product also contains features like bass and treble enhancers that really bring out the clarity of audio like never before. Simply put, this thing makes a pair of $30 value speakers into something more expensive sounding. :Let me put this into perspective, you will want to keep the volume low, its enhanced to the point that one would actually distort sound if they cranked the volume up. Being a gamer, I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who wants a solution to gaming as this is a 7.1 surround sound product that delivers. I watched several Let's Play videos of several games where the sound could be pinpointed. I even closed my eyes to see if I can find where things were by sound. My test was passed with flying colors. For around 40 bucks, you can't go wrong with this. I am surprised that I got this kind of quality in this price range. High recommendations from my end.

good simple product for the price A++
Some info you might find helpful: I use it to sing karaoke online through my laptop. It has a good reverb separately for microphone (micFX), and several reverbs that are equally useful for music/wave audio-(EAX). I use it every day to sing and play my guitar, or sing off karaoke videos online, or saved karaoke songs in my laptop. Pretty cheap and good quality for a portable usb sound card. I can plug it into any computer with a usb to use. It is more convenient than an internal sound card. I no longer use an internal sound card or have a desktop. I choose it for convenient to just be able to plug into my laptop and sing right away. I broke 3 or maybe 4 now through my own fault for standing up while the headphone is still plugged into the usb sound card which kept on getting bent until it starts to lose sound, crack, or not function as it should anymore. I bought roughly ten of these used and new on Amazon, and they all worked great. They stopped working because I kept standing up and break them. I still bought more. That's how much I like/find useful/convenient with these sound cards. I'm on my 4th one now within the last four years. I sing and play guitar for more than 6 hours almost everyday, more on the weekends or days off. I gave the extra cards to friends to help them get started, and I plan to buy more. As far as I know, there're only 2 or 3 creative sound cards that have micFX(reverb/echo for microphone). This usb being one. I don't think the others are available anymore, For me the micFX is a must when I'm singing. It gives some reverb to vocal. MicFX to me is the most important reason to buy this sound card. The other is that it's convenient, and cheappp...heeh. I do not want to plug in my $500 mackie or Health Allen mixer just to sing when I can simply use this and start singing right off. I can go on, but to me this has been the most useful sound card. I can focus on my music more. I hope the info helps, have fun!

Works with the Nintendo Switch
I've had this kicking around in a box since I bought it back in 2013. I originally bought it for use with a QNAP NAS - it was plugged into the NAS, and then into some speakers in my man cave, for listening to music (via a webpage running on the NAS as a service), without having to have an extra piece of hardware. And for that purpose, it worked fantastic. Fast forward to 2018 and this has been in a box for the past 3 years or so (the NAS is still in use, but I don't listen to music very often these days). And I'm in need of an alternate audio output for my Nintendo Switch while docked. My Switch is on firmware 6.1.0, and the headphone jack on the Switch works just fine, even while docked. But I remembered I had this, so I dragged it out and plugged it into one of the USB ports on the dock, and lo and behold, it works! While plugged in, the volume buttons on top of the Switch control the output volume. I haven't tried the mic input yet, but it worked with both headphones and into an amp (though the little headphone/speaker slide switch on the side appears to have no effect). My Verdict: This is a good solid audio output option for use with the Switch.

Works Great, But nothing beats a built in Creative sound card...
I am a Creative Sound Blaster fan for many years now. I have always bought used SB soundcards for my PC and had to download the drivers myself. I purchased the brand new SB Audigy FX Soundcard from amazon with all the necessary hardware and at the same time I ordered, I also saw the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go!, so I ordered them both at the same time. I installed the SB Audigy FX Soundcard first because it came with the installation CD. It was easy and sounded awesome. When I tried to install the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go!, I had alot of trouble getting the software and applications online, since it does not come with an installation CD, which it should. I don't remember if I was using Windows 7 or Windows XP at the time but getting it to work frustrated me so I put it back in the box and threw it on the shelf and just used the SB Audigy FX. I never bothered to return it. After I recently had to do a reinstall of Windows 7 on my PC, I plugged the SB X-Fi in again for a second chance. This time, Windows 7 started doing the install and downloading for me. I didn't have to do anything. When it said that all was completed, I set the X-Fi as my default playback and plugged in the headphones to it and this time it worked! It did sound pretty good, better than the preinstalled soundcard that came with my PC. It does work well, but be aware, nothing beats a built in Creative sound card...

Simple, effective way to improve sound on any PC.
Very effective at improving the audio output of my desktop and my laptop as well. I love that it is portable and the drivers/software can be installed over the Internet, making it usable on almost any machine. It is a great add-on but please keep in mind this is not designed to replace a $100 PCI sound card. The sound quality and volume is significantly improved over the motherboard built-in audio. I have been testing with my SONY MDR-V6 Studio headphones and the clarity, bass depth, channel separation, and crispness is all very much improved. It also acts as a decent headphone amplifier. When I was using these headphones through the built-in audio, I was running system volume around 80% and now have reduced that to about 50% with the same output. It may only be USB powered but it sure drives some more juice, which is great. For gaming, the software package was very easy to install and get the Alchemy program setup for my few games. The entertainment console is simple and makes it easy to tune the sound to your taste or application. This little usb sound card is a hit. For the price, ease of use, and significant sound enhancement, there really is nothing else like it.

Buyer beware ! . 3rd party purchase
Too good to be True First of all, I bough this from a 3rd party not Amazon or the manufacturer, I paid $21.00 Unit arrived in a plastic bag, not in factory packaging ,no warranty or setup paperwork, did have installation cd. for the THX not SBX as advertised. This is clearly a counterfeit or a reprocessed unit. Worked for about 30 minutes then died.. The moral of the story, kiddies is you get what you pay for, let the buyer beware! You cannot buy this device for $21.00 new ,no way. You have been warned, now go to bed. UPDATED REVIEW 11/20/14 ************* My original review was a little short sighted and perhaps a bit hasty, so I'm going to be a little more objective in this one. Yes I was disappointed with the fact that this unit was not new and factory packed. My biggest complaint was that the vendor failed to make this fact known in the ad.They did however, call me directly to try and resolve this with me, I'll give them credit for that. The product was not broken, but was not making connection with the u.s.b.connector, [ not unusual for sound blaster products] I am using this with a Fiio06 amp and it sounds pretty good, and I've had no further problems with it

A mess with Win10
Update 7/8/20--I found a use for the Sound Blaster. My new Dell laptop running Windows 10 will not play audio through a cable jack. I have to reinstall the driver each time the computer is turned on, or turn on Bluetooth, both a hassle. Today, I found the SB in a drawer and stuck it in the USB port with the cable connected to an external speaker. Plug and play, it works, and amplifies the sound as well. The computer downloaded a driver before playing. But if there is still additional software for the SB, I won't bother using it. (Probably part of the problem before was that Win 10 was so buggy when first released. I wiped it off my computers and used Win 7 until it was discontinued.) My five-year-old purchase of the SB has been redeemed. ----------------------------------------------------- I have reduced the review to one star from five. The SB worked great without software on my Win7 laptop. But it took me 20+ hours to get it to work with a Win10 laptop. The device is otherwise great, but it is irresponsible for the company to release products that take so much time and aggravation by consumers just to use. For anyone else stuck with the product and the same problem, here is what worked for me. On my laptop running Win10, I couldn't use the SB device with or without software. Software wouldn't load properly, wouldn't load drivers, wouldn't recognize the device (though the computer did). I cleaned off all old Creative files (using the 20 Aug 15 Win10 download from the Creative site; you run the program and it asks if you want to remove old programs; yes). Before rebooting, manually deleted other Creative folders I found in the C drive. Had to go into Task Manager to end a Creative program that was still running (Shared Files) before I could delete it. Reboot. Inserted the SB device into a port. Installed the Win10 software. Went into Device Manager and right-clicked on "Other devices/SoundBlaster Go Pro" (marked with an ! indicating nonfunctional). Clicked "update device drivers / let me choose" (bottom choice). A list is populated with various drivers. Clicked "non plug and play devices," where there were 3 drivers: 2 SB and one generic USB. I clicked on the generic device, which installed, and worked. Sorry I don't remember the exact names used in this step--not a computer pro.If I were, maybe it would have been obvious to try to use a generic driver in the first place. But I'm just a regular home computer user. SoundBlaster is now partially working. I have audio through stereo speakers instead of dinky laptop. But the Sound Blaster software (which should allow me to adjust the sound) is still not working; it tells me there is no device attached. Grrrrr. Orig review: This little gizmo made my stereo set up sound 10 times better, and for just a song. (I have a laptop w/ external hard drive and 28 watt Altec Lansing speakers w/ subwoofer.) I was amazed at being able to understand the lyrics to songs I've listened to many times, and to hear all the instruments in orchestral works. I looked into getting more powerful speakers, but in a small apartment I wouldn't ever really need them. This sound card provides excellent quality of sound, versus just quantity.

It Works
When I built my new PC, I ran out of room in my desktop for an internal sound card so I was left with an external USB option. This turned out to be an awesome problem to have. For the price, you can't beat this if you want good sound. I'm not an audiophile, but I do appreciate good sound from my computer. The onboard motherboard sound just wasn't doing the job. With this, the difference was tremendous. The installation was extremely simple. Just pop in the CD and install. I believe during the installation it downloads the latest updates as well. The physical unit is fairly simple as well. It's about the size of a flash drive which is handy if you are traveling with a laptop. There are two 3.5mm openings on the one end for sound and mic. Also, the box contained a short USB extension cable, which I found handy when trying to finesse your way to the USB ports on the back of your PC. When you plug it into the computer, a blue light will come on telling you it is powered. Fairly straight forward. Overall, this is a great bang for the buck. It beats onboard sound without breaking the bank. I use it for everything from gaming to music and I love it enough that I bought my brother one as well.

Amazing sound!
I always loved creative for their sound cards. I've had several usb sound cards from them in the past and they all lasted 7-10 years. For me that's more than reasonable. Now the reason I got this one is because I had issues with an old PC desktop running on XP. The sound ports weren't working and obviously I wanted sound so my last option was to use a usb sound card. (Motherboard was for AGP sound cards lol so that was a no go). I had a spare HyperX usb sound card that worked, but I couldn't adjust the sound (probably XP incompatibility). When I saw that this one was compatible with windows XP I gave it a shot and dam I wasn't disappointed. Sound quality is amazing and literally destroys my HyperX (sound levels taken into account). Plugged my Sony headphones into the X-Fi go and my ears simply melted. I could hear every small bit of detail in Alien versus predator 2. Game is old, but still holds up in terms of atmosphere and gameplay. Not much else my XP tower can play anyways lol. Apparently this dongle works with a PS4, but I haven't tried it. It comes with a usb adapter thing so technically it would fit into a Playstation usb port. Plus it also comes with a 3.5mm mic/headphone splitter so any PC headset should work with this. Pros: -amazing sound -decent price -works with XP Cons: -cable is short, but you can get a longer one if needed
