A Dreamlike Mystery that is a well worth purchase.
AI: The Somnium Files is a mystery game where you take the role of an amnesiac detective and his AI partner as you try to solve the case of the New Cyclops Murders using a special device to dive into dreams of people and uncover the truth. It is a fascinating crime thriller with branching story lines and endings that will keep you on your toes. It mostly plays like a visual novel which means a lot of reading with fully controllable dream sequences and may not be be every ones cup of tea, but the fully voiced and modelled cast and wonky gameplay helps to bring it to life and keeps it fresh. The music has a well range of tones from somber to intense to heartwarming to psychedelic. The visual and writing sytle may be one of the more harder features to sell, but if you can get on board with it, you can find a great story with many twists and turn and a fun array of characters.

Yet another compelling mystery from Spike Chunsoft!!
Catching yours truly off guard was the storytelling genius that is at the core of Ai: Somnium Files DNA. It is very much along the lines of many game that have treaded these very familiar waters before, however this plot has enough twists and turns along the way as well as a host of lovable characters that as you grow to learn about will feel for. The ending is one that I would venture not many people would even come close. It is a smart and mature original, that paves its own way to a spot in the murder mystery genre and believe me when I say that AI: Somnium Files is going to be making itself at home at the heart of this particular genre. Hell, even more, it could very well become the bar when it relates to this genre. Just know, that its a treat!!

Woefully Underrated, Great Mystery Adventure, GREAT Voice Work
Really a surprisingly well written and produced game with fun classic adventure game mechanics and a nifty take on puzzle solving. It's a game sold chiefly on it's characters and in a murder mystery that's a fantastic deal, since each character has something to hide or something to gain, or so you think. The atmosphere is wonderfully written to be quirky fun but also dives right into stark, grim and dour without any jarring feeling. Multiple endings, a branching story, and actually well written foreshadowing. EVERY ENGLISH VOICE ACTOR WAS AMAZING!! I have not played an anime game in ages where it's this well done. I wish it got the affection it deserves. It was great.

One of the best visual novels out there
Outstanding in every way. My only complaint is that the action sequences can get very over-the-top in a way that takes away from the seriousness of the situation, but other than that this game is phenomenal. Great characters, visuals, voice acting, music, and even gameplay is pretty good by visual novel standards.

It's a great game... for about 20 bucks.
It's a one time play game, by which I mean once you beat it there is no reason to go back to it. The plot is alright, but I feel like some things don't add up properly. Also fair warning the game is really rather crude. Like in the first ten minutes you can find out how crude it's humor is going to be (Can't say because younger eyes may be watching). The puzzles are alright and had me pleasantly racking my brain on what to do without being too far off into left field, but the game does break it's rules ONCE so watch out for that one. All in all it's a good 20-30 hour game if you read everything with good music, art, and one heck of a who done it plot.

One of the best stories I've ever encountered in a video game
Without spoiling anything, I have to say that AI: The Somnium Files is a return to glory for the writer of the Zero Escape series. His latest work combines a mind-blowing whodunit with fun puzzles and wacky characters. This is one of those rare games that takes advantage of gaming as a storytelling medium and creates something that can only work as an interactive drama. Don't miss out on it.

Amazing
If you like going "what the h*ck?" but in a good way, this game is for you. Perhaps not as mind blowing as some of the Zero Escape games bit it makes up for it with a lot of heart and great characters.
