The Scottish Fine Soaps - Vetiver & Sandalwood Eau De Toilette - Vegan Formula with a Masculine Scent - 100ml

I was first bought a bottle of this some years ago by a family member who had been on holiday in the highlands, tried a few fragrances & thought I'd enjoy this one as a gift. She wasn't wrong either. I did, and after running through that bottle, I've bought it regularly ever since -Amazon tend to have it in stock most of the time, and usually at a good price, making things straightforward. Presentation is simple -a slightly late-Victorian / Edwardian-advertising aesthetic in terms of the box and printing on the bottle, which is unpretentious, effective and does, in its pale green way, exactly what it needs to. The bottle itself is a mid-weight glass affair, with a fairly flimsy plastic top and a decent enough atomiser. So much for the 'static qualities'. I still remember first spraying this and thinking a/ That is a truly beautiful scent [which it certainly is], and b/ I recognise that -although not from over-familiarity, as it's distinctive, non-sweet, non-cloying, and a world away from most modern 'designer' fragrances Green. Mid-green actually. Immediate fresh crisp, airy citrus, with some hints of spicy depth which settles down after a minute into a deeper green vetiver, and continues to do so, with woody, earthy notes starting to make themselves known, like a damp garden or woodland as it develops into the drydown, some of the smoke from the vetiver layering into the background. It's not a big projecter -it sits close to the skin, and longevity isn't particularly extended -I get about 4hrs, although my skin isn't particularly kindly to scents: even thunderous offerings like Kouros don't last as well on me as on some. But it's still a lovely fragrance. And so it should be, because my memory wasn't wrong. I do remember it, or what it is essentially a [very accurate] clone of. It's Guerlain's Vetiver -a true, legendary scent: classic, masculine, highly sophisticated 1950s perfumery that I can't normally afford these days, but which is one of my absolute favourites. That doesn't last either on me, at least in EDT form, so the ability to get a very close representation of that wonderful, damp walled gardener scent for about 1/3 the price is a real bonus. The ingredients are evidently high quality, because I've had zero irritation to the skin, even if using post-shave, which it isn't really meant for but can double-duty as if needed. Superb, and highly recommended if you want something that's genuinely classy, and classic.

I’m not sure about this now . I’ve worn it twice now and it smells nice at first , but then smells stagnant after half a day. It’s almost like a gone off smell. Quite disappointed.

Last fairly long and I love the fragrance of it! My favourite especially for the price 👍

A cracking traditional men’s scent without the designer label! Makes you feel as though you’re just leaving a 1950’s Barbers! Now watch the price go up! 🤣🤣
