I bought this to use with a Dell Venue 8 Pro I use for work. My primary purpose for the Venue is the ability to load and edit MS Word docs. In general I prefer Android or iOS tablets from a usability standpoint, but I have not found a really good system on those platforms for doc files - particularly when tables, figures, etc. must be managed. I found the Venue to be technically excellent in most ways, but using the onscreen keyboard leaves very little screen area to see what I am typing. Further, the small size of buttons and icons makes clicking on the right area tough. So, sometimes I need a keyboard and/or mouse. This little gadget gives me expandability that I would truly love to have on my iPad. I just plugged it in and was immediately able to use a USB thumb drive, a mouse, and a keyboard. (I only tried one at a time, but I think a small keyboard with trackpad would be ideal.) This is a great little accessory at a great price. The only downside - it makes me keenly aware of the expandability that I can and should have on my iPad.

When I put the cord into the phone it was tight, a nexus 5, and it wasn't because of the usb itself. It was the prongs at the top that don't hardly go down at all. I pushed them down with my hand and t was extremely hard. The cord worked perfectly, and looks great, especially for the price. I don't know it was just mine that seemed that way and maybe it was supposed to be that way so it is secure, but I feel it didn't need to be that hard. I got a small external drive to work off of this cord and in a hub that plugged solely into the phone I got another usb to and couldn't try more. The largest amount of things I could try was a keyboard, mouse, usb drive, and the small external drive. That was because that was the most allowed by the hub. So for anybody looking to use this with a nexus 5 make sure you have supersu(root) and stickmount installed. Overall a great product.

Bought to try and get OTG to work on my phone, turns out you plug in the adapter first, then the USB cable to adapter on Samsung phones. Discovered that information before this arrived. Does look very nice and seems to be fully wired for all data transfers. High quality 90° turn. Definitely going to use it from now on.

I have a whole drawer full of useless, non-functional OTG cables I bought that simply aren't fully wired and don't work at all on my Galaxy S4. And none of them could be plugged into my S$ without removing the Otterbox case. The Otterbox is absolutely non-negotiable, and there's no way I'm going to remove it every time I want to use an "On The Go" device. I actually removed the Otterbox and tried every one of these cables and, although the OTG was always detected when plugged directly into the phone, it was never detected when connected through the cables. One cable was even impossible to plug in to ports on any device. All these other makers must be adhering to some mysterious wiring protocol - otherwise, how could there be so many duds on the market? The first and only OTG cable I've ever found that actually works on my S4 is this "StarTech.com 5in Micro USB to USB OTG" I just received from Amazon. It's attractive and nicely made, fits easily into any USB port, and works with my Otterbox. The rest are all going into the "circular file".

StarTech and Anker are the two companies I go to the most, when I want quality. Amazonbasics is also quite good. Here, the issue is, a cell phone micro USB port is tempermental. If it does not like the cord hooked into it, your device will not charge or the OTG will not register. So when I don't want to spend a lot of time with my cell phone USB port, I just go straight to StarTech. White one works better than the black right-angled one on the cell phones I have. They both work. This white one even rescued my Kingston 115 GB thumb drive nobody else could read! God bless StarTech! If you use another brand, you're taking a chance. Mind you, some cell phones do not allow OTG hookup and will not tell you this. In which case, go back to the cell phone provider and tell 'em to go to hell: because a cell phone without an OTG, is useless. And of course buy these StarTech cables that fit in nice and tight. Give as gifts to your friends..tip your Uber driver, etc.

It does it's job, but it isn't the sturdiest cable I have ever seen. The data transfer rates when using it with standard flash drives seem to be ok though I don't have any numbers to give. I have ran into problems where my phone will not see the connection sometimes, but I have never experienced the same issue on my tablet. I'm inclined to believe this is an issue with the phone, but I wanted to put it out there anyway. Since buying this adapter I have purchased a 32Gb Corsair Flash Voyager GO flash drive which essentially negates my need for this cable. It has a regular type-A USB connector on one end, and a USB type-B Micro connector on the other end. I would highly recommend spending a little extra money for that solution over this cable. I find that data transfer rates are a lot better this way, and you are getting a great USB 3.0 flash drive as well.

ho preso questo cavetto/adattatore per usare le pendrive con il mio samsung galaxy S5 e nel contempo ho avuto modo anche di usarlo come adattatore per collegare il mouse al dispositivo. Davvero utile in determinate circostanze. Sicuramente vale i pochi euro che costa. Fate attenzione a verificare se il telefono supporta l'uso delle pendrive (caratteristica chiamata OTG o Usb host), altrimenti avrete brutte sorprese. Per il resto non c'è altro da dire. Devo notificare la brutta esperienza con il corriere sailpost che aveva un indirizzo incompleto o errato ed ha segnalato che io ero assente al momento della consegna. Ovviamente non era vero e nello stesso giorno ho ricevuto altri pacchi da Amazon, a dimostrazione che c'ero e che l'indirizzo messo sul sito è corretto. il problema è che non sono stato avvisato in alcun modo della mancata consegna, e dato che sul sito era prevista la consegna alcuni giorni dopo non mi sono preoccupato. Solo in seguito ho notato la mancata consegna ed ho contattato Amazon come intermediario per risolvere la questione, poiché sul sito del corriere non erano previsti nuovi tentativi di consegna. Solo dopo un po' di telefonate ed alcuni giorni di attesa finalmente arriva la consegna, ma la lasciano alla segreteria invece che direttamente a me. Ovviamente alla segreteria non è stato detto nulla su a chi era destinato (fortunatamente era scritto sul pacco) ma non avendo il mio numero di telefono e non essendo avvisati da me di questa consegna non mi hanno potuto avvisare. Quindi altra perdita di tempo, poiché sul sito non era ancora scritto lo stato del pacco, non avevano preso il nome della persona che aveva ritirato il pacco, e soprattutto ho dovuto fare un giro di chiamate per capire chi poteva averlo ritirato al posto mio. In finale, voto 2 al corriere per la loro professionalità nella consegna. Spero di non ritrovarla di nuovo.
