Will this fit a Generac XG7000E portable generator?

Yes. It is exactly the same size as the battery that came with my XG7000E.

Does a charger need to be connected directly to the battery's terminals or can you just clip it onto the generator's terminal connection cables?

I use a trickle charger connected directly to the battery terminals while hooked up to my generator. I don't use the plug in charger that came with the generator as this can't be left on indefinitely as a trickle/ smart charger can.

Are 069449 and 0G9449 the same battery?

They are the same size but both come with different terminals make sure you get the battery with the 1/4 " bolt style vertical terminals for a generac brand generator because some of these batteries have lay down snap connectors and they won't fit a generac generator with bolt style cables, plus get the battery with 12V10aH not 12V9aH. Hope this was helpful.

Is this the battery for the xp8000e?
