Bloody Streets: The Soviet Assault on Berlin Review: Masterwork with amazing tactical/operational map book - Excellent mix of facts, analysis, personal accounts, and photos. The map book for the new addition is simply astounding with the most detailed tactical battle maps I’ve found for the Battle of Berlin overlaid over actual period aerial street maps. Also includes high quality action maps down to regiments for battle of Seelow Heights. Great coverage of the importance of the flak towers. I have at least 7 other books on the battle. Excellent complement to Hamilton’s books on the Oder front. Expensive, but absolutely worth the price. Review: Don’t sleep on this one - This author has already written great books on subject material that is genuine and detailed. So good. Bought this and shelved it as had many new books to read and sometimes change subject matter to French Indian war and American Revolution, so I finally get to this gem and it’s completely above the standard, with in depth material and research. Along with flowing and Interesting read..Highly recommend. So good and thought out and fair. He effortlessly flows between unit action to personal accounts, to overall situation.

Massive!
I have been purchasing books on WWII since the 1960s. The majority pertaining to the European theater from the American/British side. I was a bit hesitant on this printing mainly because of its cost. I couldn't be happier on the addition of this book to my library. The book is massive in size, content, detail, and research. An added bonus is the 60 plus page map book. The addition of the map book is almost worth the price alone! The map book contains technical maps, overhead photographic maps, as well as many color plates. WOW.

Good, but with a bias
95% of this book is absolutely excellent. If you want to know where every single unit in the Battle of Berlin was and what they did, this is the one-stop shop for you. The other 5%, unfortunately, seems to have an axe to grind against Zhukov. Rather than let the reader draw their own conclusions, the author declares Zhukov is bad, even going so far to state that his performance in the Battle of Berlin led to his fall from grace, a claim that is unsupported as well as contradicted by other historians. This, plus another point where he decides to shout-out his haters who cast doubt on things asserted(and later confirmed) in the first edition of this book, really does sour my experience of it and prevent me from giving it 5 stars.

This being the second edition, I wondered if it was worth purchasing it since I already owned the first edition? Ina word, YES. The additional material he has included in the book is worth purchasing it even if you do own the first edition. My biggest issue, carried over from the first edition, is the way he superimposes directional hours on maps. But I will say the photography and the narrative more than makes up for the issue. I would recommend purchasing of the second edition because of the addition material Stephan has added, nice job!

accounts reported day by day until the end of the Berlin battle. the map booklet is very useful to follow the main book text and pictures. the "seelow heights" battle tactics choice by germans in different resistance lines is very well explained. I learn some things about this battle: the lake landing of the Bv138 inside Berlin the last days of the battle and the importance of the 3 "Flak towers" in the defence. the testimonials of the last german living, at the end of the book, are gripping a mandatory book for anyone who want to read and learn about this battle !!

Always loved the Battle of Berlin, so interesting is the last ditch battles of the period. This book goes great with Panzers in Berlin, for anybody who's a huge WW2 buff this is a must have for the bookshelf.

Un libro de exquisita calidad y presencia y con un contenido soberbio. Además viene con un segundo libro dedicado exclusivamente a mapas. En resumen, muy recomendable.
