A Cool Drink of Water (Rise and Shine) Review: Our summer Theme: Go Green at the House Of Genesis - I have a in home daycare that teaches multiculture awareness and go green ethics. I have children from 1-5 years old. This book reaches each child age appropriately. THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE AMAZING! The children love to look at this book and listen to the book aloud! Also, our kids are globally aware of different cultures and languages. A Cool Drink of Water gives even more knowledge about culture through a universal theme, Water. It is simply a marvelous book!! Review: Great for elementary water unit - This book has been a wonderful addition to my 2nd grade water unit. The text is very simple but the pictures allow students to observe how people access water around the world and lead to some interesting research questions. If you're looking for more information there is a fact page at the back that gives some background on each picture (such as where it was taken).

The best book for beginner ELLs
A rare find! A book that is interesting and useful for teaching beginner ELLs who are older. This book is ideal for grades 5 and up who are beginners in English. They can learn the verbs with TPR, the nouns with Realia, and can learn to recite its short prepositional phrases in one sitting. Teachers can link social studies concepts by working with the index of photographs and map. Students can study the difference between poetic style and expository narrative in the index of photographs.

Students love the photos
The photos are just absolutely beautiful. This is the kind of book that my fourth graders keep checking out. They literally just started at the photos. We used the book to support out water conservation PBL.

Gorgeous photography
Beautiful pictures from around the world. Very easy reading, one sentence a page. Nice explanation letter from the director of national geography at the very end. Good global awareness of how water is collected.

Wonderful!!! A great hook for my 4th graders during our water cycle unit and PBL-making clean water. Beautiful pictures and opportunity for real world applications and cultural diversity discussions.

Informative read
Excellent, low priced book that helps expose my kids to other cultures around the world, which is sorely needed nowadays in the U.S. with our racist and xenophobic attitudes.

Thought provoking and got the children thinking. The real large scale images really captured their attention (read to early years children). Lots of links were made and questions asked.

This is a beautifully illustrated book with very simple language and sentences for children to follow. The pictures show the importance of water at all different angles. I would highly recommend it!
