Your skin and hair will thank you!
Unfortunately we have really hard water at my apartment complex. I was tired of my skin feeling hard and filmy and my hair feeling dry and brittle. I knew I couldn't treat the water coming into the apartment but I figured I could at least filter it. I scoured reviews until I found the WaterChef Premium Shower Filter System. It received good reviews so I decided to give it a try. I received the shower filter much faster than expected thanks to Amazon fulfillment:) The filter system also came with a filter and I ordered an additional two-pack of replacement filters. I must note that I did not install the shower filter myself because I could not remove the shower head that was in my shower so I had maintenance come in and install it. When I arrived home from work, the shower filter was in place and it looked great! . I love the detachable handheld shower head with hose. I noticed an immediate difference in the way my skin and hair felt. Additionally, the shower did not get shower scum build up as quickly. Its been 6 months since the shower filter was install. Currently I have not experienced any leaks in the shower system (head or neck). The filters last 6 months and are ridiculously easy to replace. The two pack of filters were around $30, which I think is very affordable since they last up to 6 months. Bottomline: I can't live without this shower filter system. Soft skin, healthy hair and less shower grime. I recommend this shower filter system to anyone who has hard water or you just want less minerals and chemicals in your water! I didn't find the system to be too expensive but I think its well worth what I paid.

If you are considering this - just do it. You'll be delighted you did.
We had to move to the far western exurbs of Chicago so that my husband wouldn't have a two-hour-each-way commute to his job. Right off the bat after moving into our new place, I noticed the different taste in the water, as we are now on well water. I had never encountered well water: Chicago is lake water, and Minneapolis is reservoir water (or so I am told) - and the well water way out here just didn't sit right with me. We took to filling pitchers with water and leaving them in the fridge for a day just so I could drink without gagging from the taste (and the minor odor). But that was all the thought I gave the water. This past November, I went and stayed with my parents in Indianapolis for almost a month...and that is when I noticed that after showering daily there for a couple of weeks, my hair was softer, more cooperative re: styling, and also, I just *felt* cleaner. And that, finally, is when I put it all together. The same day I returned home, I reported all of this to my husband, who immediately connected the rest of the dots: the minerals in the well water were probably the culprit for all of my complaints about taste, odor, hair being weird, and just never "feeling right". So off to Amazon we went, and after reading about multiple options - as well as my husband researching other sites - we settled on this as our first foray into seeing if filtering the water out here would make any difference. Well....man oh man! - it DOES. This shower filter is the BEST thing we could have done. It was very easy and quick to install, and both of us noticed after our first showers using this that we just FEEL cleaner. And I am noticing - now that we've had this for a couple of weeks - that my hair is no longer as dry and "brittle" as it had been. So kudos to WaterChef for making this, and now that this little "test" has proven out, and revealed that yep, the water out here really is different from what we are used to, we are now looking into getting a water filter for our kitchen tap so that I can once again enjoy drinking water without having to first let it sit for a day in the fridge. Bottom line - if you are looking at shower filters, and reading this review, you are probably someone like me: someone who never had this situation before, and couldn't/can't be sure that it's not "just you"...and aren't sure if a filter will make any difference...or were/are thinking that you'll adapt over time.... Well, forget that. You are almost certainly right in your suspicions, and yes, it probably IS the water (not you). So just try this out, as we did - it's strong odds that you'll keep it and be very happy that you now have it.

Looks like working well but not filtering!!!
So far, it seems to be working well. I plan to check it later with a water tester to see if it actually improves water quality. Update: I previously rated it 5 stars. However, after testing it, the outcome was unexpected! The tap water measured 132 ppm, while the filtered shower water measured 138 ppm. How is it possible that the unfiltered tap water is better than the filtered water? I spent almost $100 on this, and it appears to have made the water worse! I bought it in July. I'm returning

Our daughter is allergic to chlorine and gets terrible eczema over her whole body. We chose this because it was rated the best to eliminate chlorine. We had the water coming from the waterchef tested by the town water commission and there was 0.00 chlorine. We have had it for 2 months and she has no eczema. Great for elimination of chlorine and a really nice shower head as well.
