Great book but needs a little more.
I throughly enjoyed this book’s explanation on how humans perceive color. It provided meaningful information and acts as an effective resource. However, I do believe that this book should elaborate further on human nature in general and how it correlates with each specific color.

A book recounting the personal color preferences of the author. The science is wrong and misleading.
This book may be helpful in providing suggestions for how to pair one color with another, and the author is clearly enthusiastic about color. But the book presents misleading and wrong statements about color perception to endorse the author’s preferences. If you get upset when people do not know or understand the science, and use it to sell a message, this book will drive you crazy. For example the author asserts that the Himba have different color perception abilities than Westerners. No source is provided. The only source I know of, is a discredited (fabricated) documentary, since retracted by the BBC. The author also asserts that color perception is different between men and women. She says “research has shown that women and men do indeed see color differently and that while men are good at seeing fast moving shapes from a distance women are better at distinguishing subtle gradations of color close up”. There is no evidence cited. And I do not know of any. To the contrary, all research I know of shows that perceptual abilities of males and females are indistinguishable. The only sex differences that are clear are that females on average have more color words and are more likely to report color. I tried to engage the author to discuss but no reply. Do not buy this book is you want to learn facts about color psychology or color perception. And be aware that the preferences the author advances as hard wired and based in science are not. In fact research shows that color preferences are highly fungible. Boys in the 19th century in the West liked pink.

Beautiful book!
Sometimes, nothing beats a good old paper book. This one does not disappoint! It's unique format, being small but with a hardcover and beautiful glossy colour pages, makes it irresistible. I can't help but holding it and reading bits of it every time I see it on my table. The author definitely put as much thought in the content as the design. Speaking of content, it is really interesting. It is full of fascinating facts about the history of colour psychology, as well as many applications of it in the way we dress, decorate our homes, and react to colours, as well as why that is. If you are interested in colour and its impact on us, this is a must read!
