Can I use this in potted plants?

That's all I use it on. I've used it for years and it's been great. I use it when I get plants from wherever ( nursery, Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) and want to put them into pots. I use the Bio-Tone starter to be sure they get good root growth and to make sure the transfer from little nursery containers to a bigger pot are successful.

I used this for the first time last night. It smelled like organic fertilizer. Today, I went to use it and it smells like ammonia. Is this OK?

Organic fertilizers can sometimes continue to compost if kept in a very warm place. The nitrogen heats it up further causing the ammonia smell. If the bag doesn't feel too warm, this is not a big deal, but I recommend you store it in a cool place to maintain the natural N-P-K balance and micro-organism makeup.

Can this be used in a potting mix (vermiculite and coconut choir) for starting seeds? Or will it cause burn?

Yes, definitely use it for potting mix- it promotes root growth like nothing I've ever used before and the strong odor comes from the mycorrhizae fungus- not from anything that would burn the seeds.
