Is there a library which contains the python code on how to communicate with this device?

For this product, we only have library for Arduino https://github.com/CytronTechnologies/CytronMotorDriver. However, we have made a tutorial for a similar motor driver (1Amp dual channel) using the phtyon code https://tutorial.cytron.io/2019/03/06/getting-started-with-maker-drive-and-raspberry-pi/. Please check if it helps.

Why is there an asterisk for the direction? from the graph does it not say that if you set dir to high then it goes forward and low then it goes back

Forward or backward is just a representation. Actual direction is depending on the motor connection. i.e. reverse the motor's wire terminals at the board (MA & MB) will reverse the motor spinning direction. Thank you.

I see that you have a arduino library, has it been tested or work with esp8266 or esp32?

Although we are not tested on esp8266 or esp32, but it is compatible. Just make sure the correct pin for PWM and DIR is selected

Does this board have diodes (for reverse current) to take care of back emf from the dc motor?

The MOSFET already has the diodes built-in. This motor driver is a regenerative motor driver and the energy generated by the motor during deceleration will be pumped back to the power source. Make sure a rechargeable batteries is used to power the motor driver so that it can absorb this regenerative energy.

Very good!

This is a surprisingly good unit. Handled control of an 18amp blower and stayed cool indefinitely with no heat sinking. Was able to control easily with a 3.3v PWM signal over a 4 foot cable with only diode rail protection.

I wish they would make a dual channel 20a and 30a board. They might... I looked, but I cant remember. I still want one.
