Is this good for colored pencils? Not too much texture?

Hi, Yes, it can be used for colored pencils. I use this paper for making monoprints on a gelatin printing plate with acrylic paint. I use this paper because of how smooth it is for printmaking. I think you will love this paper and it’s great because there are 50 sheets. Have fun creating!

Is this a book that can be opened to painting OR are the sheets made to be used outside the book separately?

Both, however this hot press paper did not hold up to my style of painting, I only used a couple of sheets and discarded the package.

How well does this cooperate with watercolors?

Great all purpose pad, but I bought it specifically for watercolor. Paper is heavy enough. If you are a pro, go for a higher grade.
