Depends I think the box is tuned high like around 50hz or something. Check the fs of your sub to make sure it's near around the box tuning 50 hz. If not anything under 50 hz will not be controlled.

Would this sound good with a sundown x 12?

I dont see why not, i have a 12 inch rockford fosgate T2 same power range that sounds great in it and hits the notes

will a X-12 D2 - Sundown Audio 12" 1250W RMS sub fit in this box

The mount depth is really close, I wouldn't get this box for a sundown x12. The x 12 mount depth is 9.67 inches and you have about 10 inches of usable space. You need more space behind the motor than that but you could make a spacer to make it work but that woul be ghetto. Hit up Starr Mountain Sound for a custom box and you will not regret it! His prices are reasonable.
