Let It Come Down

This album is absolutely amazing. You get a taste of Iha's style on Mellon Collie (the final tracks on each CD) and in some of the B-sides on the Aeroplane Flies High box set. It's too bad you can't get the digital album on Amazon.

Once every 5 blue moons an album comes along that is so positively infused with "feel-good" energy, I feel like shouting from the rooftops: "Run, do not walk, run and get this album immediately!" Let it Come Down is such and album. This music is like a massage to your soul! The tunes are so positively contagious, the imagery they create so delightful, you just feel thankful for the experience and for the gift of music. I wish I could personally thank James Iha for creating such a masterwork and feel ever so slightly disappointed that this album didn't attain the commercial success it so richly deserves.

I didn't hear this CD when it was first released, but after being blown away by Iha's participation on the "Tinted Windows" album a few years ago, and then further knocked out by his excellent solo album "Look To The Sky" last year, I thought it was high time that I heard this earlier effort. I like it quite a bit, but I still think "Look To The Sky" is the superior recording.That said, there are a LOT of good songs on here. As other reviewers have noted, the style of music on this album is much softer and more pop in nature that what Iha was doing with the Smashing Pumpkins at the time. While most of these tunes fall into the realm of sweet and sentimental they are far from saccharine. Iha has a pleasant vocal style and shows good instincts as a songwriter. I don't know that this CD will knock out most diehard Smashing Pumpkin fans, who are perhaps more accustomed to the band's electric guitar stylings, but anyone that enjoys listening to well-crafted pop tunes that are more acoustic in nature might find this album to their liking. I hope that Iha doesn't wait so long in between albums next time. I really like what I've heard so far.

Found his solo project from the Pumpkins. I've liked the songs Iha did with the pumpkins like "the boy" "the bells" "take me down" so I had high hopes. This album exceeded my expectations greatly. This album also hit a sweet spot with my recent indie rock phase. Melodies and his singing as very sweet and peaceful, I actually see very little pumpkins influence, this is His project. Puts me in a good mood of memories just chilling in the 90's with more of a "summery" feel. Everything is catchy and there dont seem any songs just kinda thrown together. I think anyone enjoying a softer rock, indie rock, accoustic or maybe even j-rock phase in life will totally enjoy this album. :)

Let It Come Down offers a different side of James Iha far from what we are used to hear from The Smashing Pumpkins.The album offers soulful, melancholic, and groovy tunes. Well worth the price. My Advice is one hell of tune as well as One and Two and the single Be Strong Now.

Let me start off by saying that i am a huge pumpkins fan. I originally loved this cd but hadn't heard it in years so i decided to pick up a new copy and give it another listen. So with that being said how does Iha's solo effort compare to the Pumpkins and or Corgan's other efforts. While it may not be fair to compare all of these albums one must look at what iha did before and after the solo release and judge it. Let it come down is by no means a great departure from what Iha did with the pumpkins in the sense that the songs that he wrote or most certainly sang solo on sound similar to the album. This is not necessarily a bad thing as a lot of those songs were great and helped to break up the norm (corgan). However these songs wouldn't really stand up on their own. They were good but listening to a whole album of them would be kind of boring. So skeptically i put the disc in my cd player and listened to again after more than a decade and my worse fears where realized as song after song the same soft acoustics and soft voice sang of cliche'd loves. Iha is not a great lyricist as some other reviewers may have stated, his lyrics are ok but don't look for any deeper meaning. The songs are all acoustic pop and while this is certainly what i expected i was somewhat disappointed because i had fond memories of enjoying these songs. Held up to even Corgan's solo effort this album pales by comparison as Corgan finds ways to bring emotion to the forefront of his songs Iha only brings droning emotionless poppy lyrics. I still miss Iha in the Pumpkins and wish he would return, but listening to this album makes me believe even more that Billy and Jimmy will be just fine without him. Iha is a good sidekick in the sense he did help the pumpkins create some beautiful music. Let it come down, while flawed is a decent effort for iha fans out there and some pumpkin's fans as well. However, I still don't understand what i saw in these songs so long ago to give me such fond memories of them.

Disco llegó rápido y en buen estado, y tiene el plus que es una edición japonesa, por lo que tiene canciones extras que no se encuentran en la edición normal. Un gran disco.

Un album che ha ricevuto molte critiche e pochi apprezzamenti, ma decisamente da ascoltare prima di saltare a conclusioni. La musica è caratterizzata da una delicatezza particolare e i testi da una semplicità quasi infantile. Lo consiglio a chi vuole comprendere meglio il personaggio di Iha al di fuori del contesto degli Smashing Pumpkins.

I love this album. First heard it in tape format at university back in '98. A decade later decided to purchase the CD and it still sounds fresh. I enjoy listening to it and could play in on a loop on the drive home. Lovely lyrics and melody.
