Great reel, great support after the sale.
Sizing based on line capacity way wrong. The 1500 is a MICRO reel. Which is fine if you want a micro reel. There is no way the line capacity specification is correct. The drag? Yes, its probably 10lbs on the 1500 which is a micro reel.Likely to be going back.Edit: I am amending my review from 2 Stars to 5 Stars. A brief explanation in in order. I scored the 1500 with 2 Stars not because it is a lousy reel. In fact it is a nicely made smooth reel. The 2 Stars was because of the lack of communication from the seller and the inaccurate information regarding line capacity on the specification list. The line capacity makes it appear to be a small reel, but not a "smallest" reel like a micro spinning reel. The 1500 is a very small reel. Ultra light spinning reel that would be perfect with 4lb up to 6lb test mono. No way it is designed for 10 or 12 pound test. Something I only found out for myself by ordering it since the seller did not answer my pre-sales questions. The seller did get back to me. Apologized for the lack of communication and the inaccurate line capacity information regarding the 1500. Took FULL responsibility. Something that is rare regarding these types of products. They fully supported me after the sale AND replaced the 1500 with the 2000. I did not need a big reel, just did not need an ultralight. The reel is great. Smooth, extra bearings on the main drive shaft add a great deal of stability and the extra spool is a nice touch. Feels like a Lou's but not at the Lou's higher price point.Thank you for your support Xinogba.Edit 6/25/2018. Gotta tell you if I could give this thing ten stars I would. Took the 2000 to local stream where I catch bluegill for the bait I use to catch catfish. Had 4lb on one spool to catch bluegill. 10lb on the other for catfish. Caught me some bluegills, swapped spools, cut them bluegills up and tossed them out on the 10lb and caught several 3-5lb catfish. The 2000 didn’t bat an eye. Would I try 20lb catfish? No probably not. It might land them though. Very well done folks, very well done. Now I might have to budget for a the larger reel like the 3500 or 4000.Edit: Aug 2018. Finally was able to get a picture of insides so can see why these are so smooth and superior. You can see the two shafts that stabilize the oscillating spool gear/mechanism. Refreshed the lubricant as went on fishing trip in Indiana while on vacation. Most reels offer one or none, use plastic guide as the runner. This dual rod/shaft design has a huge positive impact on the reel’s performance. Kastking’s newest make a big deal out of having one of these. Lonpar’s Lureaders have TWO.They are on sale right now too! Geez. 13 bucks for the ultralight???? Can’t be making any money at that price.Compare to the Diawa Revros I just bought. Pictures included.https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R39LNP45DTXKW9/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00WFIOU6K

Will it handle Alaskan Sockeye? Yes!
I researched reels for several months leading up to my Alaska trip. Having just returned I feel like I can offer a tried and tested review. In short, these reels are a fantastic value.I’m not a casual fisherman. I was a guide for 4 years. I have fished all over the world using various tackle and gear. I know a good rod or reel when it’s in my hands. I kept going back to this Lonpar Tideep reel because it looked well built. It checked my boxes but for that price could it really be that good? Three carbon fiber drag washers, 29lb drag (4000 model), 2 spools, 9 bearings, a nice handle and shipped for under 40 bucks...c’mon, seriously? The few reviews were good and I had heard favorable comments about Lonpar products so I decided to order a couple of 4000 reels just to check them out. Out of the box...smooth! The fit and finish was excellent. I spooled the aluminum spool with 30lb Daiwa J-Braid Grand and the 2nd graphite spool with McCoys Mean Green 15lb mono. I paired the reel with a 9’ medium spinning rod. I took a backup reel just in case and off we went to Alaska.Me and my son made it to the river and the sockeye were running. Pure excitement. A few casts later...fish on...the reel sang quietly. The drag on this reel performed beautifully. Smooth, consistent ...no jerking. When the fish ran it applied even pressure. Some of the larger fish were near 15lbs and the 4000 handled them with ease. I even landed a seagull that decided to get lassoed in my line. That was interesting. Mean suckers! I reeled him in and released him without incident. Combined, me and my son landed dozens of Sockeye with these reels over the course of several days. I was dead set on purchasing 2 of the Daiwa BG series reels. I even considered the Penn Battle II’s for a time. Instead, I purchased 2 Lonpars for half the price. I used both of my spools on the trip just to test the line and they performed perfectly. The braided line on a 9 foot rod casts a country mile. The mono was no slouch either. Oh yea, the backup reel never saw daylight. The reels felt the same at the end of the trip despite being dunked repeatedly (in fresh water). Wading up to your chest with a 9 foot rod makes untying knots and tangles difficult. You have to let the rod and reel swim downstream while you work on the tangles. No water infiltration issues. This is one of those times where I took a chance and feel like I struck gold. At this price how can you go wrong?

Top Grade For It's Price Class
I haven't fished with it yet but I'm comfortable giving my first thoughts (Keep in mind I'm no fishing-reel savant lol). It looks amazing, let's get that out of the way. Cosmetically it's gorgeous. I got the 3500. Its build is nice. I'm sure I'll change the bearings for GP but the bearings in it now feel good and look like they'll hold up. I've paird mine with a white telescoping 30lb Marathon pole. Spooled it with high visible 30lb mono but surprisingly it didn't take as much of it as was described. I don't have the numbers now but I was surprised to see so much of the measured line still on its retail spool. I soaked the line on the reel (uncut) to remove its retail spool memory, I then reverse-spooled the line and I still had way too much line left on the retail spool (even tightly spooled). The bale is slightly flimsy for my taste but it's elements are great quality. Put it this way, it's almost as if, if I were to take it completely apart and tighten it, it'd then be a super amazing build with all-around high quality elements. The extra spool is amazingly generous and I've put 25lb mono on it. Over all it's an amazing product that I'm sure it's designers whole-heartedly are proud of and they should be. For a beginner or exclusive small fish (1-20lb) fisher, at less than $40 you'd be in great hands with this reel. I'll probably take it with me and loan it out to my fishing date. She'll love the look of it and think I've got money to throw around with this beautiful setup. . . and with some luck she'll actually catch a fish lol. Awesome reel.
