Bad buy
The player works great. The unit came without a remote control thus you can not get to the disk menu as player has limited buttons. I tried ordered a remote control and received one that does not operate the unit. After that I gave up and wrote it all as a bad buy

Dont buy a used DVD player
EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED. The remote control is broken. There is no other way to use this without it. I bought it explicitly FOR the remote feature and it is unusable.

good enough for the price
I've had this DVD player a little over 2 years and it still works great. I used an expensive HDMI cable (more expensive than the player) and I get great quality of video and sound. I just finished watching a movie on a Samsung Blue ray and can tell you there is not much difference in the quality I get from this player hooked to my LED HDTV and the blue ray except the blue ray takes over 2 minutes to load the movie and if you make the mistake of hiting stop you are screwed and have to start all over again. The RCA allows you to stop and even turn off the player and it will start again just where you left the movie. I havent had any problem to this date and will highly recommend it. If it breaks in a few months like some reviewers compalined just replace it. Its cheap, the price of a meal in a nice restaurant.

The open/close key of the remote control has problems.
The machine meets my requirements, but the remote control has problem in the open/close key. I asked for a replacement, but the replacement has exact the same problem in the open/close key of the remote control. This model is my favorite. I have bought four of them. Only this time the open/close key in the remote control has the problem.

Junk
Pros: Nice picture, simple design.Cons: Very noisy during operation, cheap feeling materials. The remote rattled, the buttons were hard to push, and it is very laggy. There are also no codes that work for this device, so if you lose the remote, you're SOL. Unless you can find this for $10 or less, DON'T BUY IT. It's definitely not worth whatever Amazon is charging for it. I'm taking mine out to the sidewalk tomorrow so I can see how many pieces it can break into.

HDMI output is disappointing and a hassle
Bought this in a pinch because our previous player died after years of service. I was excited about the upconvert but it turned out to be a real hassle on our unit. Everytime I play a DVD I get an initial blue screen, then have to press setup on the remote to get to the players video settings. Once there I have to manually choose a different output resolution every single time. For example: I started watched Stargate a few nights ago, got a blue screen right after pressing play, then had to enter the players setup to manually change the output to 1080p. I watched for awhile then stopped it and went to bed. Went to continue watching the same DVD last night and, though I had changed nothing at all, I got a blue screen after pressing play until I changed the resolution again, this time to 1080i. The "auto" video setting doesn't fair any better. This is not unique to my Stargate DVD, it happens with every single DVD we watch if we use the HDMI output. If I use only the analog video out it works fine but then no upconvert.

Non functional and definitely not in good condition.
The picture was horribly pixelated and completely unwatchable. The unit was returned.
