The Anglo-Saxon Chronicles

An excellently produced and set out translation of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles where it is easy to compare one account with another. The footnotes are well thought out and useful as are the maps. Well worth the money.

My son has found this book invaluable for his History Degree studies at York. Of all his required reading this book has been used above all other suggested reading matter and has been useful both for essay work and end of year exams.

It was what I expected and very well präsenten and for me very educational.

Great look in to the past, history buffs will love

Excellent reference book or a book to dip into. Demystifies much of what is wrongly considered the ‘Dark Ages’. Michael Swanton expertly navigates the reader through the Chronicles whilst making what could be a very ‘dry’ read, interesting and informative in a ‘user friendly’ way.

It's a book I've been after for years. Got mine from Book Depository; but looking through it, it appears brand new and not s/hand. Also came in less time than stated. Nice to see my town 'Gainsborough' Lincs is mentioned a number of times. The place where the Viking King, Sweyne Forkbeard stayed with his son, to become King Canute, some time after his father was murdered in my town Feb 3rd 1014.

This book is a must for every member of the British race who wishes to understand how our country was formed.
