What are the differences between this model and the $178 cleanblend blender?

Hi, It looks like the main differences answered earlier would be a larger container and higher motor wattage. Accessories and warranty appear to be the same. It likely depends on the volume and type of ingredients you plan to blend and how fine you prefer the result. We do not liquefy or process thick/sticky foods often, but we do use the blender several times daily for frozen fruit smoothies and frozen ice coffees. The low profile has worked as well as other high-end blenders we've had previously. Hopes this helps!

Will this grind a hard root to powder? Like knotweed?

We ended up sending the machine back. We were trying to grind black beans into a mash. The machine started to smell funny like an electric wire burning.

Does this model have the ability to use it as an ice cream maker as the bigger model does?

It chews up anything frozen - right out of the freezer - I've put into it.
