Are both these lubricaters the same thing?

You get 3 containers. 1 is a solvent/cleaner. The other 2 are Oil. They are the same. The difference is the applicator. 1 is made for general maintenance, (on a rag or patch) , to wipe things down. The "Needle Applicator" is designed for "PIN-POINT" application. Places where lubrication is needed, but excessive oil is not. If you are new to this, I suggest testing the size of a needle drop. I tiny bit, goes a long way.

Might be a silly question... but, even with quite the pressure, I'm not able to get a single drop of oil out of the tiny syringe. Is there a trick??

If there's no type of cap or plastic cover over the little bottle ( mine didn't have one on it ) the little syringe must be defective.

Will this oil damage polymer parts?

No issues here. I follow the manufacturers directions, regarding cleaning and storage.

Does this protect the firearm from corrosion if applied on the outside as well?

Yes. The oil can be applied to the exterior metal on the gun to protect it from corrosion. A thin application is all that’s needed. Most firearms have a durable finish from the factory so not much is need. Too much can do more harm than good.
