Does it charge when using a phone case

Hi Jan My phone is in a shell case ie it covers the back and edges and I never take it out. It works well. But the case is designed for mag charging. Hope that helps.

Does this affect the phone battery long term as it not from Apple ?

I have no idea but it is Apple Certified and 15W so it should be alright.
