Question 1

Can it shred unopened junk mail?

Accepted Answer

Beware of junk mail containing metal coins or tokens. Sometimes a donation-seeking organization will put a nickel in there to coerce you into opening it saying something along the lines of, "Just this nickel a day will help save the world of every problem ever!", and another example is the March of Dimes, who often puts a dime in there. Still others have non-money tokens that are metal, especially ads for kid's stuff. Car dealerships often toss a key in too. I would open just in case. A magnet doesn't help because usually the coin or token isn't iron-based.

Question 2

Can the casters be removed? I want to mount the shredder in a cabinet, however, it's too tall with the casters. Please advise - thank you.

Accepted Answer

Casters are removable. LOVE LOVE LOVE this shredder! SO much more quiet than others we've had in the office. Shreds paper to almost a pulp! Thinking about getting one for my home too!

Question 4

My Fellows shredder Model SB15C had worked fine but even though Bin is empty it indicated its full drives me Crazy as shredding stops completely

Accepted Answer

If you let it get so completely full that it stops, sometimes the paper shreds remain jammed up in the shredding unit even though the bin is empty. Try the following:1. pull the bin completely out 2. tap on the side of the unit (near the top) to see if you can loosen the jam, use the reverse button intermittently3. shine a flashlight up into the blades from inside the bin area to see if you can see a problem4. vacuum out the shredding blades with a crevice attachment on the vacuum hose (looking up from inside the bin area)5. tilt the unit upside down and then right side up
