My children loved all the interesting stories..!

This is a fascinating book. I learned of things I hadn't known about and new details of things I do know about. Some of these entries are really eerie or thought-provoking. And certainly they tease the imagination. Each mystery gets a two-page spread, set out in a specific way, and the formula gets a little, well…formulaic. I think I would have enjoyed it if the author didn't try to make every mystery fit the layout. However, some people will really like the regularity of it. My only significant issue is the pictures. The ones included are great, and the book's beautiful, but I often found myself reading about a specific possibly doctored photo or an ancient object that surely there are modern photographs of…yet the actual image in question was not included among the many others, so I couldn't make good judgements for myself. Probably copyright issues. But it was still disappointing. There's a great variety of mysteries: folk tales with possible historic roots, cryptids I'd never heard of, petroglyphs and ruins, vanishing acts, etc. The writing is engaging and fun, the topic fascinating. Very much recommended. More like 4.5 stars

I bought this for my granddaughter for her birthday. She loves it. She took it to school and shared it with her friends. It was a hit!
